They lasted a longer than the others selling it for more!! Every time I saw it pop up 'Energy company gone bust' on my news apps I held my breath... it lasted a long time given the circumstances!0

So the only benefit of switching to tracker from here on if prices keep climbing is if they honour their cap for the term of your tracker which I believe is 12mths.
Let's say in Oct / Nov that they adjust the cap on tracker to fall in line with the new Ofgem cap then it could be pushed up to 15p gas and 45-50p for electric.
But even now up until October, tracker could be hitting the 40p Elec cap more frequently as seen today and Gas might also creep up more towards 11p the closer we get to October.
If that happens and they higher the cap then its pretty poor in comparsion to the SVT.
I have asked Octopus how long they will honour the 40/11p cap for if I was to sign up, that was 3 days ago and nothing back yet0 -
I asked and its a 12 month commitment, there is potential for it to fall too - so keep that in mind, lots can change in a short amount of time - if in doubt go to Agile with a assumption its a 35p fixed tariff with good days.1

If wholesale prices go up, am I stuck on the Octopus Tracker paying a higher price?×No, if you ever want to come off the Octopus Tracker, just email hello@octopus.energy and we will move you to one of our other tariffs right away, alternatively you can switch directly in your online account. Additionally, we have introduced a maximum cap on Tracker prices at 40p / kWh of electricity and 11p / kWh for gas1 -

I have asked Octopus how long they will honour the 40/11p cap for if I was to sign up, that was 3 days ago and nothing back yetFrom what others have said, they seem to bring out a new tracker version if they want to alter the capped rate. If you sign up to the tracker, the capped rates are for a year as the tarrif has an end date.I calculated if I get charged at the tracker cap on gas (11p) it might cost me an extra £25 until October as my gas usage is low just now, but then come Oct I'm going to win if the SVT goes up and win if wholesale costs reduce. There are no exit fees with Octopus so you can pick and choose between the tarrifs. If you're interested in the tracker, sign up now before they change the version. I've done it for gas, not sure I would for electric but you can do it for a single fuel if you ask.0 -

~35p tomorrow for me0

I have asked twice today over the phone about the Tracker tariff, specifically whether the cap on the unit rates and/or the standing charges were fixed for any period of time, and the answer was no and that these can change (with advance notification). They only said that these are unlikely to change until October, but afterwards there is no guarantee.0

You/they are thinking of the Flexible tariff, not the Tracker. There is most certainly fixed caps for the duration of your contract. They confirmed this to me last week and I posted it in this thread. Same with Agile.0
