    What are you powering???
I'm sitting here using under 2000kWh/yr of electric and 9000kWh/yr of gas for a 4-person household in a 3-bed semi and wondering whether some of the forum members have been paying too much attention to Nickelback lyrics ...
I want a brand new house on an episode of Cribs
And a bathroom I can play baseball in
And a king-size tub, big enough for ten plus me

    We use 7500 gas 😎

Computers, ac, fridges, bearded dragon all sorts lol avg is 22 a day
Huh. Our summer months average in the low 20s per day (based on monthly readings) but we don't have AC or a bearded dragon

In the coldest weather our average goes up to about 35kWh.
    Then my question was misdirected....

    What are you powering????

(I think pond or fishtank are the only usual big usage items left?)
Not sure.  Air source heat pump, power shower (used on lower temp in summer, obviously), oven some days, one computer, a few screens of varying sizes (tablets/phones to charge, laptop, 2 TVs but rarely are they both on at the same time, and not usually during the day).  And my wheelchair batteries but not all that often, only before/after I go out which is infrequent.

Relevant for heating is that our house is a 3-bedroom semi-detached, north-facing and surrounded by fields - quite exposed in winter.  Before the central heating the condensation on the inside front door handle would occasionally freeze … !

Indeed, at first glance (albeit @Spoonie_Turtle may have very good reason for the usage levels) it seems that much bigger savings, than Tracker Vs Agile Vs October SVT, could be from habit changes!

Our heating runs much later in the year than many on here (our aspect is exposed and does not get much solar warming in winter/shorter days).
But hasn't come on for weeks.

Your summer figures are the ones that seem high (20+ per day), but that depends what you class as summer.

Power showers are one of the things I missed from big usage!

Well, 'summer' as in the lowest usage months, currently May/June-August.

Actually, thinking about it my parents do shower more often in summer (rather than just a strip wash).

The downward trend comes to an end, with a large increase in wholesale electricity today (why?), which puts tomorrow's unit rate (for my energy region) @ 30.92p/kWh, up from 25.64p/kWh for today.
Looking at the DA price for Gas from Friday, tomorrow will also be up from the weekend price of 6.8p/kWh (my guesstimate would be 7.4p/kWh).

Do you mean tomorrow? Today's price is slightly down from yesterday, but tomorrow's price is similar to Friday's.
Weekends are usually cheaper than weekdays due to reduced weekend demand.

Today's DA wholesale (i.e. what is displayed today, for the 27th) is up (180, compared to 138 yesterday (for the 26th)), causing tomorrow's unit rate to increase.
Maybe I'm using incorrect terminology (this is all fairly new to me...)?

Thankfully, my gas guesstimating skills are rubbish, and today's unit rate is lower than I expected @ 6.64p/kWh.

Not sure what the correct figure is, for wholesale prices, to put into Octopus' formula??

I've been struggling over that, too. Marex publish three prices, max/min/avg, and Octopus seem to choose a price somewhere in that range. If the range is wide, so is the error in my guess.
