Just stay on the Flexible Octopus. Not worth changing tariff as you don't gain anything.
That is categorically not true. Perhaps browse through the thread to see actual figures of how much we are saving every day by being on Tracker vs Flexible.

Ha ha ha ha.  Do what you like, but your statement is provably false for the year to date 2023.

just using 24/12 as an example.

i only have the Octopus App and my monthly bills, no other forms of cross checking.

whenever iv'e randomly checked usage/cost on a particular day i have always found it to be accurate. i do check more closely on the bills.

according to the App. i used 13.74kWh of electricity, this was the day that it was 7.77p. the App says i used £1.5462, quite a difference to what is should be. just having a look at some of the recent cheap days and nothing adds up. of course i'll look closely when the bill arrives but is anyone else seeing this difference?

edit. just using a second day 29/12 used 13.36kWh, cost £2.095. unit rate was 12.1p

edit2. the gas doesn't add up either. have they somehow added the new formula?
scrap all that. the daily cost includes the SC which i am sure it never used to. indeed the App says it doesn't.
Yes app excludes SC and VAT. It would be very helpful if the graphs included this because it makes for easier comparison of spend by month, that said, I run a spreadsheet with all the data in.
The output of the App on my phone appears to be inclusive of both VAT and SC. Even though it says it is not inclusive of SC. This could be a recent change.
Do you have the Home Mini?  I think for discussing this specifically it would help if people stated whether they do or not, to know what's ordinary app behaviour on Tracker, and what's because of the Home Min.

I found before it, the app cost details were inaccurate, although to be honest I didn't sit down and work it out based on the day's Tracker price that we had the smart meter installed so I don't know if it was including VAT and SC anyway.  But now with the Home Mini they are accurate, and definitely include VAT and SC.

I do have the Home Mini, but usage in the app reverts to DCC figures for all but the most recent usage. For example, the week, month and year views do not include data from OHM. It is possible that the app changes its behaviour if it has one registered, but there would be no good reason why the improved calculation could not be provided to all app users as it would be working off the same data in most cases. More likely that they have been tinkering and improving the cost calculation in the background. I can't be sure, but I think when I was looking at cost a few months ago it did not make any sense, so I was surprised to encounter an accurate figure recently.

I don’t have the home mini - didn’t know it existed until now. Might explain the difference
  • Keep applying for a home mini, we found clocking the link regularly meant fats delivery.
  • Got to be happy with this.

    However @Spoonie_Turtle has this beat

.....hard to understand why there are still people who don't believe smart meters and tariffs don't save money.

It's going to be a shock to the system when Tracker prices shoot up to the level where they're only 30% less than the SVR - we've certainly had it good for the last couple of weeks!
