just using 24/12 as an example.

i only have the Octopus App and my monthly bills, no other forms of cross checking.

whenever iv'e randomly checked usage/cost on a particular day i have always found it to be accurate. i do check more closely on the bills.

according to the App. i used 13.74kWh of electricity, this was the day that it was 7.77p. the App says i used £1.5462, quite a difference to what is should be. just having a look at some of the recent cheap days and nothing adds up. of course i'll look closely when the bill arrives but is anyone else seeing this difference?

edit. just using a second day 29/12 used 13.36kWh, cost £2.095. unit rate was 12.1p

edit2. the gas doesn't add up either. have they somehow added the new formula?
Do you have an Octopus Home Mini? I do, and have the capability to cross check with my own hand-coded bill calculator via the Octopus API. I seem to be getting accurate figures for costs through the app assuming that standing charge is included (contrary to what is stated in the app). I have not done a very detailed investigation into this though, as I don't tend to use the cost figures from the app.

scrap all that. the daily cost includes the SC which i am sure it never used to. indeed the App says it doesn't.

For me, there is a psychological 20p tipping point, above I get into the 'use as little as possible' mindset. This is just based on historical norms.
Changing the subject, I wonder if anyone has joined the tracker tariff since the pricing change, and whether they could share with me the current tariff's product name?
For example, a year ago it was SILVER-FLEX-22-11-25 and the summer before that it was SILVER-22-07-22. I have tried pinging the API with various likely suspects, but have not found it. Annoyingly, Tracker has the is_restricted = true flag set in the API, so doesn't show up in the tariffs list. Product names can be checked via Guy Lipman's very useful Smart Meter Reports tool, here: https://energy.guylipman.com/sm/admin?source=octopus

I did get this working and believe it is SILVER-23-12-06 but I'm away from home at the moment with patchy Internet access so can't test it at the moment to confirm this is correct. If it doesn't work, let me know and I'll persevere and find the correct code.

edit - just managed to check it - can confirm it works and returns the correct tariff data....

Thank you! Yes, that's it. I didn't go back in date that far, I was convinced it would have been 10th +/- a couple of days.

Yes app excludes SC and VAT. It would be very helpful if the graphs included this because it makes for easier comparison of spend by month, that said, I run a spreadsheet with all the data in.

The output of the App on my phone appears to be inclusive of both VAT and SC. Even though it says it is not inclusive of SC. This could be a recent change.

Interesting! Just checking mine now it no longer states VAT is excluded. My daily charges shown don’t include the SC though - maybe they’re slowly introducing that through to us

Just stay on the Flexible Octopus. Not worth changing tariff as you don't gain anything.
