Octopus Tracker

It's lining up to be a cracking week on tracker.
I often see people fully against smart meters yet here we are all getting 17-18p kWh for electricity and 5p kWh for gas. On a money saving website I just can't align with their views.
I will just have to shake it off that they believe it's all too good to be true.

Arggh. Don't know what to do. Stupidly I fixed for gas at the end of September, so I'm paying 6.78p per kwh. We use about 68 kwh a day in December and January, mid 50s in Feb and March, 30s in April then trailing off after that.To swap to tracker for gas or suck it up until the fix ends?Make £2025 in 2025

Did you fix within the last 14 days if so would have cooling off period to avoid exit fees.Slinky said:Arggh. Don't know what to do. Yes that's the real issue, the £75 exit fee. Recovering that via reduced tracker rates.

I don't work coal, we're CCGT. But unless a coal plant is on a specific contract, I'd imagine their regime would be the same as ours. Bid to get through the auction. Once on load though and start up costs are out of the way then it's much cheaper to remain on load hence bids will reduce and it's easier to clear.MultiFuelBurner said:
Tracker price predictions are always fun lolfuelcrusher said:
I would doubt we'll see one today (Mon). Our unit (>1GW) did not clear the auction after I thought we probably would so there's plenty of supply available. I'm often wrong with our running predictions though lol.QrizB said:
Looks like tomorrow could be the most expensive day of the week? And a likely candidate for a DFS event?MultiFuelBurner said:And on that note, here's the guess the price of tracker this week.
Also, if there were to be a DFS event what day would it be?
I did think maybe it takes some time to power down the coal plants when they ramped up late November into the start of December but perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me.will confirm once lit they stay out til the end of winter?1 -

Yes that's the real issue, the £75 exit fee. Recovering that via reduced tracker rates.I'm already with Octopus. It's £75 to come off the fixed tariff.I've just done some sums, if the Tracker gas rate was on average 1p lower than the fix (i.e 5.78 instead of 6.78) I'd break even by the end of April.Make £2025 in 2025
