Just so we know the new formula, which doesn't apply to existing tracker customers

Was this included before?
"If this isn't possible (for example, if we are missing some consumption data), we will use your total consumption over the billing period, and allocate it to days based on industry coefficients that reflect actual weather. We are unlikely to be able to recalculate your bill, even if we later receive your actual consumption data, as re-billing is just as likely to increase charges for a customer as reduce them, and time-consuming, when our priority is on minimising the cost of this tariff, and makes bills harder to comprehend and follow for customers."

Hmmm - this explains why when I switched to tracker electric a couple of weeks ago they put an end date of November '24 on it. My gas tariff which was switched to Tracker much earlier, doesn't seem to have an end date.
Bit of a shame but good while it lasted, and I suspect it will still be cheaper than SVR even with these rises.
I wonder if it is worth me questioning this with Octopus and saying - why did you put me on the 1 year fixed length tracker 3 weeks ago, when it says this is only the case from 11th December 2023 in your FAQ?1 -
Being as you are on existing cheaper tracker rates why question apparent possibility that you will benefit from having been put on 12 month fixed term than version with no end date which they can end at anytime after giving reasonable notice.Pat38493 said:

When I renewed in June I was moved to the latest version of Tracker with new caps, standing charges and a 12 month end date.0

We renewed in August coming off July 22 tariff, put on the Nov 22 tariff with higher caps but no end date, and for some reason lower SC than our previous one.0 -
The implication in the FAQ seemed to be that anyone who is already on the cheaper tariff with no end date can stay on it indefinitely. If they are planning to force everyone onto the higher tariff, I would have thought that they would have announced it at the same time to get all the bad publicity out of the way in one go, but I could be wrong of course.bristolleedsfan said:

I doubt that they will put people with no end date on a situation any worse than me - if I had to bet on it, if they do anything soon they will say that everyone on the other cheaper versions will have their end date set to 10th December 2024 as a blanket change.
I guess they won't want to keep people on that cheaper tariff forever, but it's anybody's guess when they want to force people off of it.0 -
Historically customers on 12 month fixed term tracker have been unaffected by any adverse changes subsequently introduced for new signups to tracker until fixed term expires.Pat38493 said:

Not really productive to guess what Octopus might/might not do in subsequent months re those on Tracker version with no end date, those who have fixed terms expiring from now on I would have thought will have to sign up to more expensive current version.
