Octopus saying its 26.84p today for Gas (NW region).

It looks like they have a slight reporting problem today.  My web page says for gas:

    "Octopus Tracker November 2022 v1

    Dynamic unit rate

    26.84p/day"

When I go into the app, it says "unit rate 0.00p/kWh.  Standing charge 26.84p/day"

I'm sure it'll get fixed during the day - I can't see them wanting to give me gas for free!

Wholesale gas was only up 2.5p per therm yesterday, whatever the cost was on Monday add a tiny bit on and thats likely todays rate. It wont be 26p.

Still looking seriously at swapping to Tracker, just had a look back at the past 365 days wholesale prices.  What caused the huge spike last December?

There was cold weather with snow in March this year and it didnt cause a spike like that, so it cant be the only reason.

Cold weather was more prolonged December 2022 than March 2023

It makes sense IMHO to use the 12 month (averages + totals) as a basis for coming to conclusions between Tracker and other tariffs under consideration. Helps compensate for any oddities like last December.
