Octopus Tracker

Tracker does sound a good option, but if you can work out how to charge the battery from the grid then topping it up during cheaper Agile slots before the peak - or simply filling it overnight or during the actual cheapest slots - could be even better.1

I guess you could use Agile and charge the battery at night, topping up with solar, and then program the battery to only come on at a certain time?Slinky said:Apologies in advance for stupid questions. I've all the gear and little idea.We are with Octopus for gas and electric. I fixed the gas, and also the electric export, but we are on the standard variable electric for import. Earlier this year we installed a 4kw solar system, with 9.6kw of batteries. We are low users, only using 6-9 kw per day. On sunny days we are still getting enough solar to cover 75% of our daily usage, but of course these are few and far between. I was reluctant to move to Agile, as we tend to find if we do have energy in the batteries, at this time of year it tends to run out during the 4-7pm peak rate. I think I'm right that the Tracker rates vary by day, but not by daypart? We don't currently charge the batteries from the grid (need to investigate how to do this).Would the Tracker look like a good option for us do you think?
Alternatively if you have a large battery, you might be better off on an TOU tariff like Octopus Go or suchlike and charge the battery at night with cheap power.1 -

Gas Tracker is 5.4p here, which isn't a complete bargain but is still a couple of pence cheaper than the SVT.
