It's a web page and so far has proved to be very good for predicting high and low tracker electricity cost days

37.30p for electricity can't comment on gas.

    Go here

    https://octopus.energy/tariffs/

    Don't chose get a quote

Scroll to he bottom put in your postcode and then filter to domestic tariffs scroll to tracker and see your rates.

Yes smets 1 will normally work. We had our smart electricity meter replaced in 3 weeks for a smets2 one by Octopus but it does depends on where you are in the country.

Don't forget to get a referral from friends or family first so you get £50 and so do they 👍

i'm in 2 minds in a fix till end jan24, paying 41p sc combined but paying gas8.5p, elec 28.5p, do i take the risk now the tracker wont go above that now or hold fire
tracker feb23 is showing also nov22 both look similar prices
btw with my fix i was going to move on the std tariff then move for free so i dont get hit on exit charges

It is so difficult to say definitely take the gamble but in your shoes I would go tracker for both.

I can understand that some will want price certainly with what happened last year but the UK is in a different place now and where it buys in particular it's gas which affects bothe gas and electricity tracker prices.

It may be best to monitor tracker prices until your current fix is up then take the leap and you can view savings that people have made over the last year on

I don't understand the concept of "smoothing".  Does this apply when the data for (in the case of Tracker) a day is completely missing?  Does then some guesswork apply to provide a substitute? And does this always work to the detriment of the account holder?
Were the basics covered in one or more earlier post(s) between members that I can look up?

There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know

You will have to contact Octopus if you want more details as to what they mean by missing some consumption data and what the industry coefficients are.

In my case, there is sod all data missing, not even one half hour, as I went back this morning and checked.

Therefore five days I used around 2kwH this month I have had 8 or 9 extra units whacked onto each day, taken off other days in the month, even though they have all my data.

    Make it make sense.

As to if its to my benefit or detriment - I suppose it depends. All three times its happened to me its been to my detriment though. Sometimes it can work the other way.
