I think that if you have any missing periods at all in your month of data, they will average the whole month. You might not know there are missing periods if you weren't using any gas at that time, but this will still trigger the average billing as this is missing data rather than zero use.pfpf said:i posted here last month to say as usual my electricity usage was billed on an actual daily use basis but the gas had been billed on an average.
just got this months bill and both are billed on actual use again.
so since Feb electricity as been as used, Gas has been 50/50 average vs used.
The Octopus Watch app which I have been using recently, has just introduced a feature where they put a comment if there is any missing data on a particular day.0 -
Let's just say all on tracker must be damn happy with their decision

Because it’s still below cap?MultiFuelBurner said:Let's just say all on tracker must be damn happy with their decision

Switched a week and a half ago and we've already saved about £20. We're all electric so heating the flat is generally a nightmare.MultiFuelBurner said:Let's just say all on tracker must be damn happy with their decision

Little bit worried in case it shoots up, but considering the amount of wind we get during winter, and that the price cap is likely to rise, seems like it's a safe bet that it'll generally stay under it?0 -
Certainly for now. The real test will come in December - February. As another electricity only household, that's when high prices will quickly eat into accumulated savings, but hopefully any spikes will be short lived.MultiFuelBurner said:Let's just say all on tracker must be damn happy with their decision

I'd suggest taking it as a long term view even if it does shoot up. If you look at the 365 day history it spiked last December; then went below cap and stayed there since. I joined Feb this year and have saved over £700, and have referred over 60 people so it's been an amazing ride 😂 but even without all those, the £700 savings alone has been very welcomeknight123 said:

Are those true savings though or because your unit rate is lower, are you having your heating on more?knight123 said:

That was a once-in-a-lifetime event. It's been below the tracker for years before that happened. A combo of the Ukraine war, Putin playing with the gas taps and the general economy after a pandemic (itself a once in a lifetime event) caused a perfect storm.ashe said:

We're now much more savvy than to leave the gas supply up to Russia, we're more energy independent due to wind farms and solar and our economy is slowly getting better. If we see a bump, it'll be a very mild one just above the current SVR and go back down sooner. But I'll hope it'll never go above the red line1 -
Which crystal ball speaks I hope in favour of Tracker.
I did begin to wonder if being canny there was more or less of an argument in favour of Tracker gas than Tracker electricity, and /or Tracker summer compared with Tracker in winter, or v.v.Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know0 -
Well my bill this month seems to be £2.40 higher than I worked out myself, which is disconcerting. Bill not available yet, they have just debited the amount, so I await further details.
Maybe there was half an hour missing somewhere and they have smoothed the whole month Again.0
