Hello all. Currently on tracker November 2022 edition, renting and in the process of buying a circa 10 year old flat. Flats don’t usually have smart meters due to the distance between the meters & the flats. What’re my chances of using the move home tool on octopus and transferring my tariff over to the new flat? Reckon they’ll notice and put me back on the standard tariff? TIA.0

My feeling is that they would be happy to change tariff to new address keeping customer, possibly saving themselves £100 in refer a friend acquisition costs, you would only know for certain by doing what you indicate,c1995 said:Hello all. The central meter database will let Octopus know whether your new flat had a smart meter, or not, as soon as you tell them you're moving.c1995 said:What’re my chances of using the move home tool on octopus and transferring my tariff over to the new flat? The electric meter cupboard is at the end of the corridor and gas meters in the car park underneath. So would octopus allow me to carry the tariff over if this is the case?
I’d be happy getting smart metres installed, if they allowed it. I’m not bothered about the IHD functionality and I already have to give monthly manual gas readings anyway because for some reason it doesn’t communicate (even though the electric and gas meters are next to each other).
I’ve saved a significant amount of money in the last year with tracker so obviously keen to stay on the tariff.

It is in their gift, and there is no harm in trying. So why not ask them?c1995 said:QrizB said:c1995 said:Flats don’t usually have smart meters due to the distance between the meters & the flats. There are plenty of flats with electricity smart meters. Ive just has an email from Octopus inviting me to join Octoplus. The first benefit listed of this is as follows:
- Free electricity when the grid is greenest

We don't know until they offer it, but I don't see why it wouldn't. If they're offering free electricity to SVT customers (I'm guessing this will be when grid prices are negative), they can offer it to everyone.la531983 said:Ive just has an email from Octopus inviting me to join Octoplus. Just seems a bit off, essentially Tracker customers getting the benefits of Agile without being on Agile, and not having to put up with the 40p a unit peaks either. And I am a tracker customer myself.
Then again the SVT customers are getting the same perks I suppose.0
