Those figures shown by vic_sf49 don't show that pattern so must be the real consumption from the smart meter.

Further to the above, my bill has just been produced (cant see it yet but the money has been debited from my "pot") and its only 5p out from what I calculated myself, so looks like its back to normal this month.1

If it’s the gas that’s done like that, I suppose technically you don’t know if there are missing half hour readings unless you are using gas every half hour of the whole month, or the missing data corresponded to a time you were actually using gas.
However I think if you download the gas readings using the Octopus download option on the website, there will be missing rows if they don’t have a reading (at least I saw this once in my case where they had partial readings for one day but a few slots were missing.).

I'm surprised that their system isn't smart enough to use the actual consumption data for the complete days and just use the industry coefficients for the days that are missing data but the overall result is a 2p difference to my own calculations so I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

I have no gaps in the electricity readings.
This probably also explains why the Octopus Watch app refuses to display my gas usage on some days, even though the actual morning usage I did is correctly appearing on the Octopus App (because it didn't correspond with any of the missing periods).0 -
My October wheel of fortune update.First 2 spins had £0 before £64, £512, 3rd and 4th spins had £1 there. However all 4 spins lost, the wheel no longer lands before the two big prizes for me.
So I guess my luck evening out now.0
