Just to add for others reading not to forget many plan or delay energy exhausting activities to coincide with the cheaper days. So the Average should work out less.PennineAcute said:Including today, a 7-day rolling median of 18.84p, with an overall median (since July) of 17.97p.
Yes, it is creeping up, but nothing to get Corporal Jones about.
For example we waiting til 11am to decide whether to do a load of washing/tumble dryer and use the oven later until we saw tomorrow's prices. All washing and tumble drying delayed til tomorrow and batch cook tomorrow as well.0 -

We are billed an average for the whole month, no?MultiFuelBurner said:

It doesn't make any difference with Tracker if you use all of your electric during one expensive day, as the months usage is billed at the average price across the billing period.

No, the tracker price changes daily.tomp2494 said:

Nope(unless an early non smart meter adopter) which is why all new customers now require a smart meter. It may look like one lump bill but have a read of how they bill trackertomp2494 said:

Which is why we max out cheap days where possible and keep our own spreadsheet

It does but I have seen various reports of people being billed as if they didn’t have a smart meter with the usage allocated across the month according to the Octopus formula. In fact, I have been on gas tracker for just over a month and they did not use my smart meter readings they allocated it out. I am waiting to see what they do in the 2nd month.gt94sss2 said:

That said, if you have a. Smart meter they are supposed to bill you based on daily usage.0 -

As per the post above, you are billed according each day's UP and its corresponding UR. They only need to mess around if there is an error getting any of your daily usage.
So whilst my mean rate over the past 7 days is 18.01p, if I total how much I have spent over the past 7 days and divide that by my total kWh usage, I get an actual reading of 18.2p per kWh Here I can tell that I have been using slightly more when my prices have been higher rather than when they were lower. Something I need to work on (dishwasher set for tomorrow and not tonight).
However, my overall median is 17.97p and my overall actual reading is 17.6p. Overall, I have been using tracker correctly - just a bad 7 days.

Make sure you scroll right down to the bottom of the bill, past all the contact details etc. to see the daily usage figures. Octopus do a summary of costs at the top and lots of people have never looked any further down.Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Solar PV 5.25kWp SW facing (14 x 375) installed Mar 22
Lux 3.6kw hybrid inverter and 9.6kw Pylontech batteries
Daikin 8kW ASHP installed Jan 25

Yes I know - but for me I had a page of daily usage for gas, and it was very clear that the usage did not match my actual usage meter readings - it went gradually up during the month following a formula which assumes you use more as it moves towards winter.Alnat1 said:Make sure you scroll right down to the bottom of the bill, past all the contact details etc. to see the daily usage figures. If they do the same thing again next month I will ping them to check as they might have got me set up wrong. I can see my meter readings and usage on the Octopus website for both gas and electric.0 -
Yes I had them smooth my average across the month for electric last month, which they couldnt explain as they had every single half hour reading, so they credited me with a free tenner. Not bad to say I was only 20p or so out due to them not using the exact amounts each day.Pat38493 said:
