  • My previous £1 win was March 2021 (now I knew what to look for in my e-mails to find out).

Hmm, two years with Octopus, now 4 spins a month - one measly win @ £1
My only ever win (£1) was on April fools day 2021.
I think that was the month everybody won  :) I won £1 this month which was first win since that occasion.  :)

I won two lots of £1 when I joined (end of July) and gave my initial readings.  I just assumed that everyone won then and then hardly ever afterwards.

Ringing them shortly to have a moan.
    Try emailing smart.help@octopus.energy

Your account sits with a particular CS cohort which have some team members trained in smart metering. Discussing Tracker and smart meters with someone not trained may do little for your blood pressure.
Luckily, I got through to someone who is on the exact same tariff!

She was as baffled as me. Said it shouldnt be doing this and she reconfirmed there was no missing data for the month. She is going to pass it on for someone to have a look at, and did a lovely thing by shoving a £10 credit on my account too (not appeared yet but presume will soon).
Coming back to this, I got my first invoice from Octopus for gas tracker today and I have the same issue - even though all of the usage is showing up in the Octopus data, they have just taken the start and end smart meter readings and applied the usage to each day using some kind of formula - in fact weirdly they have allocated more and more usage to later dates when there was a heatwave, including days when actually I used zero as I was away.

I've had this happen 3 times over the 18 months I've been on Tracker gas. In the first half of the year usage goes down towards the end of the billing month (weather is assumed to be getting warmer each day) then towards the end of the year the usage goes up each day (weather is assumed to be getting colder each day)

Very odd then, at least its not just me. The tenner credit they have given me has made me happy enough though, if they do this in subsequent months its now covered (and of course it could work to my advantage sometimes)
  • Are they accepting existing customers into Tracker now? I have a friend that I recommended to join them but unsure if they will be able to get the tracker.

I honestly don't understand those who don't want the tracker tariff. Since I joined in Feb it's almost halved the prices of our energy. It's insane.

It’s called summer when gas supply exceeds demand. No one buys a share based on the fact that it has risen in value by 100% in the past 6 months. If we have a very cold Winter and high Chinese demand for LNG, we could well see a marked rise in Tracker prices. The good news is that there are no exit fees but a switch away may not be immediate.

I believe that Octopus is accepting new Tracker customers.

And you have to wait nine months to go back on it?

Meaning you will not be able to benefit from Tracker prices next spring and summer.
