So does that mean that you have to submit manual readings every day, or do they just estimate it?bristolleedsfan said:
There are unknown number of customers without Smart Meter who transferred to tracker tariff prior to 15th February + unknown number of customers without Smart Meters who were sent invite links on 1 July having been informed Octopus checked and smart meter working fine. at least one customer has posted on this thread Juneish time renewed gas tracker for further 12 months despite not having a smart meter.movingon said:
I am confused. Octopus are saying that Tracker is a SMart Tariff, so can I argue that it is not on this basis?bristolleedsfan said:
Tracker has its own rules as until all customers on tracker have smart meters it cannot be regarded as a smart tariff, should be able to switch from tracker to a smart tariff subject to might take up to 2 weeks to change tariff.Pat38493 said:
If you switch to Tracker, and then you want to leave again later, do you have to switch to a non smart tariff or can you switch straight from Tracker to Go or Agile? (I am aware of the 9 month and 30 day things, I am more thinking if you have been on Tracker for a while and you want to move to Go or whatever)?bristolleedsfan said:

The more frequent manual readings are submitted the more accurate to daily tracker rates billing will be, those without smart meters submit readings daily, weekly, at least monthly.Pat38493 said:

You can submit readings every day if you wish, but they will estimate your daily usage between readings if you do not.Pat38493 said:

Longer answer: when you give a reading, they apportion the amount used since the last reading across each day in between. It's not a flat average, it uses an industry formula to estimate days when you used more or less.
So if you want to make good use of cheaper days, or use less on more expensive days, you have to give meter readings starting and ending those cheaper/more expensive periods to feel the financial benefit of it.0 -
Thought I'd ask in here first before contacting Octopus.
I've just had a bill from them since going on tracker and having a smart meter fitted. Instead of using the daily readings from the smart meter (that show in my account) they have averaged out the readings over the 12 days the bill covers.
Is that normal?
Will they now bill me on the actual daily readings from the next bill?0 -

Do they then go back and correct the ones that were billed "wrong" - previous poster stated that Octopus already have the readings as they are showing up their Octopus account, so they don't really have an excuse for not using them (of course it could be the they benefitted from the averaging rather than were worse off).QrizB said:LtMike77 said:Is that normal?

I've been on gas Tracker for just over a year and two of the monthly bills have been averaged. Usage was shown to be going up gradually towards the end of the month as we were going into winter and the opposite showed the second time, going into summer.
I'm pretty sure that it only made a few pence difference to what an exact daily billing would have been and was probably done because of some missing data. I wasn't concerned enough to contact them.Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Thanks for the reply, I doubt it has make much difference on this bill.QrizB said:LtMike77 said:Is that normal?

Will see what happens with the next bill.0 -

All our bills have looked like that, but at the end there's a page itemising each day's use and price which is what they use to calculate the average unit price billed.LtMike77 said:Thought I'd ask in here first before contacting Octopus.
