Ouch. Tracker has been leading the price charge for months.

Have you thought about Octopus Go or Go Faster. My peak price is 16p/kWh and 5.5p/kWh for 5 hours - fixed for one year with no exit fees.
Am I right that Octopus Go (and Go Faster?) are like Economy 7 - cheap overnight, but more expensive through the day?

I don't have storage heaters, or an electric car - and now I'm working from home all day thanks to Covid - so daytime costs might be prohibitive?

Until this afternoon Go was cheap during the day and amazingly cheap overnight. The day rate beat most single rate deals. Go Faster is still in this category (probably not for much longer), but Go's day rate is no longer as competitive if the vast majority of your usage is during the day.

Yes Go and Go Faster are like E7. However they have today put up the peak (daytime) rates from ~15p/kWh to ~23p/kWh so it's no longer the clear winner.
If you don't have a good way to move your consumption to the cheap rate period (electric car, storage heaters, home battery) you may find Flexible is a better deal overall.

  • Thanks both. Just checking their site and the Go rates they're giving me for my postcode (region 9 - Northern Scotland) are:

    Unit rate (04:30 - 00:30):

    16.92p/ kWh

    Unit rate (00:30 - 04:30):

    5.00p/ kWh

    Standing Charge:

    25.00p/ day

  • Can't find rates for Go Faster - is that an invite-only tariff?

    Put your postcode in here:
Then click on "filters" and choose "smart". Be warned that the Go tariff you see there might not be the same one seen in the quote you've had previously.

Those prices are the old tariff which was replaced about 2 hours ago with much higher peak prices. Sorry.
  • Ah, okay. There it shows:
    Electricity
      Unit rate: 24.69 p/kWh
      Standing charge: 27.39 p/day
Description: Octopus Go September 2021 v1
  • I've been looking at Octopus Agile and the prices are horrendous. Appreciate wholesale prices are high now, but the customer is taking all the risk so it’s hardly surprising. It should be avoided at all costs. If you need or want a Time of Use tariff make sure it’s one where the risk is at least shared and you get some benefit from the suppliers hedging - they are the experts after all, The difficulty is finding these tariffs and then comparing them.
  • I'm being offer Octopus Intelligent instead of Octopus Go Faster... anyone had this? The standing charge is much higher than Go Faster

    Unit rate (23:30 - 05:30):

    5.00p/ kWh

    Unit rate (05:30 - 23:30):

    23.76p/ kWh

    Standing Charge:

    23.30p/ day

    vs Go Faster

    Unit rate (04:30 - 00:30):

    23.76p/ kWh

    Unit rate (00:30 - 04:30):

    5.00p/ kWh

    Standing Charge:

    17.55p/ day
