I'm being offer Octopus Intelligent instead of Octopus Go Faster... anyone had this? The standing charge is much higher than Go Faster

    Unit rate (23:30 - 05:30):

    5.00p/ kWh

    Unit rate (05:30 - 23:30):

    23.76p/ kWh

    Standing Charge:

    23.30p/ day

    vs Go Faster

    Unit rate (04:30 - 00:30):

    23.76p/ kWh

    Unit rate (00:30 - 04:30):

    5.00p/ kWh

    Standing Charge:

    17.55p/ day

Do you meet the conditions attached to the Octopus Intelligent tariff?

Intelligent Octopus will pair directly with your car’s charging system, using KrakenFlex machine-learning to find the best time to charge. Simply use the app to tell us when you need the car charged and how much charge you need and we’ll make sure it’s ready for use.
    • A smart meter we can connect to (either a SMETS2 or Secure SMETS1)
    • A compatible EV charging system (currently, either Tesla or Wallbox Pulsar Plus)
    • An iOS smartphone
Simply, either the EV or the EVSE has to have OCCP.

  • I think @gypsymoth means octopus go rather than go faster.

    I do - sorry.

It's a bit confusing because I'm now signed up to Go.... then I asked them to put me on Go Faster.... then they came back with "would you like Intelligent Octopus"

As it stands, which of the three works out the cheapest? I *do* have an EV but I dont charge it at home - I just plan to use offpeak energy for washing etc

You need an OCCP car or charge point if you want the Octopus Intelligent tariff. You tell Octopus how much the car needs and Octopus will intelligently tell the car when it can charge. If the car doesn’t need a charge then you don’t get the 5p rate. For those who might need 30kWhs a night, Intelligent Octopus is a good deal. To go onto Go Faster, you need an invitation from Phil Steele as he decides which periods are available. You can contact him at agile@octopus.energy

    It depends.

If you are on the old octopus go tariff (i.e not the september refresh with high peak rate) then i'd advise you stick with that as its locked in for 12 months. If you are not and are on the high 20pish peak rate, then its better to go on go faster and choose the earliest start time for the longest period, as then you can load shift your washing/drying/dishwasher etc to late at night (i.e. after 9.30pm) and save a little bit of money, and use it to charge your EV if you're that way inclined (if you have one)

You cant be on intelligent octopus if you dont have an in homecharger (wall box or tesla) plus i dont think its that lucrative a tariff anyway.

In that case, stay on go, do NOT go on go faster or intelligent octopus, as your rate for 20hrs a day will jump up to >20p/kwh......stay on go. If you have timers on your washing machine/dryer/dishwasher then set them for 00:30 and you'll save even more.

Sorry to resurrect this thread. Given current market conditions, I find that the Tracker tariff is slightly lower than their price capped variable tariff. I plan to also sell my excess solar energy using Outgoing Agile.

What would the best option for me be?

    -  10 x 400w LG + 6 x 550W SHARP BiFacial Panels + SE 3680 HD Wave Inverter + SE Optimizers. SE London.
    -  Triple aspect. (22% ENE/ 33% SSE/ 45% WSW)
    -  Viessmann 200-W on Advanced Weather Comp. (the most efficient gas boiler sold)

Feel free to DM me if I can help with any energy saving!

Today, Tracker is cheaper, tomorrow it could be different as the price can change every day...

The real question is how do you feel about the caps on the current Tracker Tariff vs the likely summer prices and the increases predicted for October...
