Signups in March and at least part of April would have been for v1
Albeit, caps are the same, but SCs higher on v3.
V2 was superseded by V3 on 26th April:

Current Cap details:
https://octopus.energy/tracker-faqs/If wholesale prices go up, am I stuck on the Octopus Tracker paying a higher price?
×No, if you ever want to come off the Octopus Tracker, just email hello@octopus.energy and we will move you to one of our other tariffs right away, alternatively you can switch directly in your online account. Additionally, we have introduced a maximum cap on Tracker prices at 40p / kWh of electricity and 11p / kWh for gas

@davieba
Not sure if it helps or muddies the waters but this page suggests the v2 gas cap is 11p kWh but best you check with Octopus if you think it's different2 -
My Tracker enquiry (now circa. 7 weeks old, some info. about which can be found here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5462811/octopus-energy-reviews-give-your-feedback/p232 ) has been escalated to a Team Leader, who has repeated a previous assertion (from the original CSA) in their response:-
It's a fixed-term contract, so this is still nonsense, right?
Also, today's tariff info. on the Octopus website show the SCs for v1 & v2 unchanged, and lower than v3.

I contacted Octopus again, supplying screenshots showing Tracker to be a fixed-term tariff, with an end date 12 months from start of supply, along with today's Tracker rates & SCs for v1, v2 & v3 (this showing that SCs for v1 & v2 have not changed, and are still lower than v3, but unit rates are changing daily, same as v3).
This was the further response from the Octopus Team Leader:
'So with the tracker it is essentially as fixed term, meaning that you are fixed on that tariff, however the tariff prices can increase/decrease with the rising and falling of industry costs.
The Tracker V2 tariff standing Charges are cheaper at 21.11p for electric and 14.37p for gas (VAT not included), however, this has now increased along with the price cap, so even if you'd have signed up on the V2, the tariff will have changed to V3 as of the 26th of April. It is exactly the same as how the variable works in terms of the price cap, if you are on that tariff, we will let you know 30 days before they rise, but we cannot stop them from rising...'0 -
Still nonsense. There are customers currently on V1 and V2 who are paying the lower SC.
