However what we've seen for the past 4-5 months is high futures prices turning into much lower month-ahead prices and then day-ahead spot prices that are cheaper still.Just look at this screenshot of July futures:At the start of the year, July gas was as high as 500p/therm (that's 17.7p/kWh, wholesale) but it's fallen fairly steadily and is now around 150p/therm (5.3p/kWh). We won't know what the day-ahead price used for Tracker is until we get to July, but I'm guessing that ion July it will regularly be 90-120p/therm (3-4p/kWh) a bit like it's been from mid-April until now.I'm obviously expecting October-March to be more expensive than April-September but 11p/kWh retail would need the day-ahead price to be something like ~220p/therm.The futures price for January 2023 (link) has been kinda flat around 250p/therm but I'm hoping that, as the year goes on, it will begin to fall. It doesn't need to fall very far for Tracker to end up cheaper than the cap.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

If we had gas it would be something we would consider with Octopus.
However I suspect it weighs heavier on the mind for some than a fixed contract in that you are checking the day rate regularly and recalculating your estimated monthly use etc. So that burden has to be taken into account(of course some people love that)
I wonder how tracker electricity prices are doing?0 -

Today's gas tracker price is appearing on my Octopus account and Guy Lipman's site as below 2p/kWh, the lowest it's been for about two years.I'm still not sure whether to believe it!N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.

Probably worth taking Electricity as well.My average daily Tracker unit rates for May were 23.94p/kWh & 4.68p/kWh (SCs - 22.17p/day, 15.09p/day) so it seems sensbile to have both, and backdate as far as Octopus will allow.I'll keep a close eye on prices 'going forward', as I imagine most Tracker customers do...?2
