I’m a relatively small person, and was thinking of being visible in our box room photo to demonstrate it looks bigger than it actually is. Complete with 3/4 size guitar for full effect.
A ukulele would work even better.

A guitalele will work better as it looks like a full-size guitar, but isn't much bigger than a uke.

I also noticed nearly everyone had a guitar strategically placed when looking, plus the usual signs and grey everything.

It was great seeing the rare ones with old décor and original fittings, lots more character and individuality.

It's difficult to know why people latch-on to these fads. I was going to blame the TV make-over shows, but I don't remember seeing a single one promoting the use of these props. As you suggest, it's much better just to see the house itself, rather than the distractions.
I think a lot of people (mostly men) just have an idea most of their lives that one day they will be bona fide rock gods so of course they need a guitar.  Most of them will probably be able to strum Wonderwall.

Real guitarists have at least 3 or 4 of them in the house.
3 or 4? Pathetic. You need at least a dozen:

(which isn't even the most noteworthy thing from this Rightmove listing)

The stairs down to the kitchen are giving me vertigo just looking at them.

I do love the bog standard picture of the nondescript brick garage at the end after all the highly stylised rooms before that.  :D
Cosy isn't it! That has to be the most bland, soulless houses I have ever seen. Reminds me of one of theose naff  films  set on some space station in the future.  What on earth were they thinking.

I do have an oversized cream 'skeleton' clock, but it is ten years old and very early days of that fashion 🙈 No twigs, lights, bunting, wooden letters, guitar or Elvis cut out lol. Two obligatory cats too lol.

I reckon lots must've taken up the guitar while furloughed.

That link to the white house. Oh my goodness, I actually thought the pics were in black and white. Am I seeing TWO toilets in the same bathroom? Seriously? Was it a mirror or something? Can't bring myself to look through all those pics again lol!

Our cat did a runner and hid at the bottom of the garden when our pics were taken so sadly, we didn't have the obligatory cat. We did, however, have two guitars as well as fresh flowers (for pics and every viewing) along with home-made biscuits (this was pre-Covid). Honesty compels me to admit there were novelty LED lights as well as bunting in the garden shed but I plead not guilty to any wooden 'Love' 'Eat' 'Sleep' cutouts (or similar) :).
Ah! Was anyone in your household a guitarist?

And dont forget to get a really good estate agent. One that can take close up photos of your shiny bathroom tap, on an angle obviously.
That's right. I sometimes wonder whether I'm looking to buy a house or a hot water tap.

Guitars are so yesterday. What is required today is a cute cat
    I mentioned the obligatory  cat!
  • Guitars are out. Huge silver and diamanté studded crushed velvet corner sofas that barely fit into the 2 bed semi living room and matching mirrored side tables are in.
  • I've not noticed the guitars.

I believe that the key sale winners are

    a) a vase of random big twigs placed in a corner, often with fairy lights

    b) it is imperative to hang a used tea towel from the arm of the oven.
OMG, both of these were in my pictures LOL

With the water running, just to prove that it works
