Where to put my guitar?

To be fair though, it’s not generally the guitar that has that effect.staffie1 said:
It's true! In fact now when looking through RM listings, I play 'find the guitar'! I went to see one place recently, and I knew from the pictures there was a guitar in the living room. As I walked in, there it was by the fireplace in all its glory. I couldn't take my eyes off it!James-may said:Just thinking about it, and a few places I've been looking at have had a guitar placed in a corner on a stand or on the walls.😂Ref the posted link, I can probably manage without living somewhere that had the combined aesthetics of an airline toilet and a very large submarine. Albeit white not yellow. Very very white. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.3 -

3 or 4? Pathetic. You need at least a dozen:wannabe_a_saver said:
I think a lot of people (mostly men) just have an idea most of their lives that one day they will be bona fide rock gods so of course they need a guitar. Most of them will probably be able to strum Wonderwall.staffie1 said:
It's difficult to know why people latch-on to these fads. I was going to blame the TV make-over shows, but I don't remember seeing a single one promoting the use of these props. As you suggest, it's much better just to see the house itself, rather than the distractions.MovingForwards said:68ComebackSpecial said:
A ukulele would work even better.Herbalus said:I’m a relatively small person, and was thinking of being visible in our box room photo to demonstrate it looks bigger than it actually is. Complete with 3/4 size guitar for full effect.
A guitalele will work better as it looks like a full-size guitar, but isn't much bigger than a uke.
I also noticed nearly everyone had a guitar strategically placed when looking, plus the usual signs and grey everything.
It was great seeing the rare ones with old décor and original fittings, lots more character and individuality.
Real guitarists have at least 3 or 4 of them in the house.
(which isn't even the most noteworthy thing from this Rightmove listing)
The stairs down to the kitchen are giving me vertigo just looking at them.
I do love the bog standard picture of the nondescript brick garage at the end after all the highly stylised rooms before that.

That listing just says "monotony" to me! Post modern, almost dentist-like. Nowhere to put anything, and requiring continuous cleaning!elsien said:

And those steps in the guitar room are positively lethal! If you will the end, you must will the means.0 -
Nobody has mentioned the almost obligatory cat.
In fact we removed the dogs, dog crate, dog beds, dog bowls and basket of dog toys from our house for our photographs. I forgot to remove the cat so there she is! Rather like "Spot Fred" in newspapers in the "olden days"

I've seen lots of pictures of cats in listings. Some seem to be looking at the photographer as if to say "This is my home you're selling!"If you will the end, you must will the means.0

My husband's guitar was in our photos on a stand in the living room, because that's where it lives. Can see that it might look a bit odd though... Fortunately nothing grey, no twigs and only a regular sized clock!
Our photographer made us move the cats, even though they were curled up beautifully on the sofa together.

Our cat did a runner and hid at the bottom of the garden when our pics were taken so sadly, we didn't have the obligatory cat. We did, however, have two guitars as well as fresh flowers (for pics and every viewing) along with home-made biscuits (this was pre-Covid). Honesty compels me to admit there were novelty LED lights as well as bunting in the garden shed but I plead not guilty to any wooden 'Love' 'Eat' 'Sleep' cutouts (or similar)
