Happy Tuesday, well done on not spending anything this weekend. Who on earth originally planned a big project for the end of August - madness no wonder it was postponed.

It's tricky isn't it? This time last year I was fairly certain my job was going and I mildly regretted that we hadn't saved more in the 'fat' years but they (tight months) can be rather miserable if you let them.

My mum lent me her copy of the t1ght w4ds g4zette a few years back and I read enough to convince me I'd rather go to work and have a nice time!

🤭 @redofromstart, I agree. It’s a fine line, we don’t want to waste our precious lives being too miserable. When I had the job scare last year I was determined to save for a larger safety net in time for the yearly location review, but clearly didn’t. The review will be coming up soon, but as nothing has changed they hopefully won’t make an issue this time around. It’s still a worry.
@jwil that’s very true, thank you.
@Sun_Addict it was customer led, but so is the delay, so I’m just rolling with it. I had a nice laid back day, with just 3 meetings.

I think most of us recognise that feeling of regret that we didn’t save / OP / wear ‘financial hair shirt’ more when we could … 😉
I have flipped it a bit, by identifying now, what I would immediately cancel if Colonel Colon (my boss) went absolutely nuclear and did sack me (things are a bit ugh in work atm …). Having ‘an emergency plan’ has made me feel a bit better, and will lead to me feeling less panicky and scared if the smelly stuff hits the twirly thing ….

That’s a good plan @KajiKita. You also reminded me that I do make £440 in mortgage overpayments each year (and so does MrWW- £80 pm between us). It’s a drop in the ocean, but every little helps.
I'm still just counting the days until Friday payday 😬 I don’t think work will be manic today (touch wood).
MrWW is back at work today. Yesterday he had to have an emergency dash to the bigger town to get WW dog a replacement fan as she burnt the motor out of her last one…and made it very clear to us that an elderly slightly podgy dog cannot sleep without her fan on all night and kept us awake with super loud panting and shuffling 😅 Last night she slept like an angel under her new cool breeze machine 🤭 so MrWW got full marks for being a good dog dad.

  • Aww, poor podgy old hot WW dog. Glad you sorted her out. I need to sort out the small electric blanket for catface, as it is required all year around but broke the other week.

What a good dog dad 👏👏
Youve done well re finances…..many things have been replaced, you’ve had a life and are still up on last year. Give yourself some slack and don’t set too hard a target which is unrealistic to keep otherwise you’ll end up totally blowing it 👍 I know harsh targets have never worked for me and I don’t suppose they ever will as I sabotage them every time 🥴

  • Happy Friday and happy payday ✨
I have done the money shuffle, such a satisfying activity! I sent £250 to pb’s and £250 to the stocks and shares isa (still £19,450 to go to fill it 🤔), then some to my pots and normal savings … which I am hoping I don’t clear back out again this month! I have already spent more than I was planning as I ordered a replacement microwave. Ours has been dodgy for some time, but yesterday was making some terrible noises. We only use it to reheat things and the odd microwave meal, but it needed/ I wanted it to be 900w as that’s the same as the last one, so the cheapest decent make was £100. All of my appliances seem to be giving up at the same time…none of them were young, but all purchased at different times, so it’s odd. Anyhow that one is done now and fingers crossed it lasts a long time like the old one did.
So, I am aiming to live on what I have left after the dd’s. I’ve don’t the usual small mortgage overpayment too. If it comes to it I can grab a bit back from my small savings pot, but I don’t want to clear everything out, or touch the pots…as that was a big failing last month.
I hope you all have a great day 🌷

  • Happy Friday, great money shuffling! Isn't it funny how categories of things often all go at the same time. I often get that with bathroom and skincare stuff, despite them being different sizes and not used at the same rate. There's probably a mathematical explanation but it seems to happen too often for it just being that they're eventually bound to align on a multiples/usage rotation 🤔
