I think that there are far more inspiring stories on the MSE diaries than you’ll ever read in a book. Definitely helped me over the years.

  • Good morning and happy Friday. I have this afternoon off and did have plans to get some steps in, but my back went yesterday so I’m not sure I could hobble very far 😅 I suspect it was moving the sacks of litter, or lifting dogs back end when she got stuck, but it only went when I was stood still, so I’m not really sure what caused it. I am seizing up at my desk this morning, so hopefully moving around this afternoon will help.
I’m just counting down to next Friday for pay day now, which is pretty pathetic, but September will be my month! I have rejigged my budget tracker and am feeling motivated to have a very good month to get my savings back on track. I am planning to fire extra into the pots to get them back where they should be and have allocated £300 for monthly whatever spending. As my tank is full I may be able to divert the diesel allocation to savings too, but I’ll decide that later in the month. For now it’s just survival mode until next week! There is nothing I need, it’s just about resetting my mind to stop me wanting random things.
My little stocks and shares ISA is quite motivating as it tells me I can add another £19,700 in and I feel like it’s something to aim for 🤔 I have £2 in prolific so it won’t take long 😬
I am still ploughing through the not so inspirational money book, hoping to get to the good stuff!
I hope you all have a fabulous Friday ⭐️🌷

Ouch to the back, hope it's easing off a bit and you've managed to enjoy your afternoon.

I get inspired when my LISA tells me how much I can add this year, but I never add anything more than my standard monthly payment, it's ready though if I ever win PBs :D

  • I'm glad you find the ISA remaining thing motivating. I tend to feel the opposite. I can't even fill a LISA. If I added the ISA allowance to my mortgage payment, that's very nearly my entire year's pay! Never going to happen! I try not to look. :)

If it makes you feel better, I’m too old for a LISA. 😢 I’m past hoping for haha.

  • Mine only has about £1500 in it, and that has taken about 3 years! I don't know how worthwhile it is, but I thought I had better open one before I pass the cutoff and lose the option later this year.

It's definitely worth it for the top up.  Mine's only just over £2k but I figure it will be a nice little lump sum when I'm 60.

  • Good morning and happy Tuesday ☔️
I found a book with last years savings in and found in an entire year that next month I will only be £500 up from last October. That was a terrible savings year and I kicked myself until I started to justify it a bit as we have replaced quite a few elderly appliances between us and I had some big car repairs last year…so although it’s pretty bad, I can see some of where the potential savings went. I could certainly have done a few thousand more if I had been careful and on track. So let’s see how I look next October, watch this space!
The fly in the ointment is that there are three more things that need replacing now…on the other hand it’s so good to be able to replace things without going backwards.
I thought this week was going to be really manic, but a big project has been postponed to next week.
I’ve managed not to spend anything all weekend and don’t plan to spend anything until at least Friday payday!
i hope you all have a good week ⭐️
