Hope you got out for your walk ok.  7-8k on a weekday is very good.  I'm just adding pick n mix to my list of weight loss foods

Hope the car insurance is sorted ok, I also hate having to speak to people!

Sorry the book is disappointing.  I remember when I was back in my super skint days, reading one of those books 'how I live on £1 a day' or similar.  It was someone who lived in a city, so spent their time going to art gallery openings etc and getting free wine and canapes instead of going to a pub or restaurant.  It wasn't quite - 'I've got £5 til payday and how am I going to manage to feed us on that?' which I was looking for 🤦‍♀️

Was it ‘my spend free year’ or something similar. They went on holiday on their bikes? If so, yes I fell for that one too 🤭 No free wine or canapés in my neck of the woods either 😁

  • Oh I hope poor WW dog wasn't too moany yesterday. I am not a dog person, so I don't know, but is there anything that could keep her more comfortable or occupied?

Shame about the book, although I am not sure the stories of when you were living on porridge and hiding the car half a mile down the road so it wouldn't be repossessed are very inspiring? :D

I am hoping it will talk more about the formula and how to resist keeping up with the Jones’s, etc. Keeponknitting, I too don’t want to hear about gruel, not sniffing a chocolate bar for years, or running from the repo men haha. As it’s American I fear I may get to an ‘it’s all gods plan’ and ‘give a shed load of savings to the local pastor’ section at some point,  but I will eye roll over those quickly.
WW dog is lovely , but can be quite high maintenance in her old age and has decided WW world should revolve around her now. She was actually very good yesterday after a moany start 🤭
One of the cats has just treated me to a really noisy barf all over the bedroom carpet, so I’d best get up and do some scrubbing 😣
The insurance still hasn’t gone out, but I checked the docs and it says ‘on or around’ and the new cover starts today. It shows as active in the app, so I may hold tight another day!

Yes it might well have been that one.  It wasn't very realistic for the average person!

Have you ever considered looking at some of the anti-consumerism stuff, apparently it's a 'thing' on tik tok at the moment, but I don't use it, so I don't know. I read a lot about climate change and the impacts of all the 'stuff' and it's really stopped the appeal for me (along with having a very cluttered house which drives me towards minimalism).

It's not all about wearing hair shirts and never buying anything, more about being mindful, buying less and better quality, and using/repairing what we've got.  I know you liked the Nancy Birtwhistle stuff and it fits well with that ethos.

@jwil, please, please try TikTok! A (much) younger colleague insisted I did and it’s good. There is a lot of guff and selling things, but it will fill your feed with things you watch or search for. I went down a history rabbit hole recently. Free entertainment is all good I think 😁
Anti consumerism does interest me, but I’ve never searched it out. I’ll report back 😬

I'll consider it.  Usually when I read about TikTok 'trends' it fills me with despair for humanity :D  So I've always been wary of it, also assuming I am too old.  I know there is good stuff on there, so maybe I'll give it a go.  Free entertainment is always good
