Chrystal said:I've got a lot of weight to lose (60lb) and have been 'looking into' things I knew from long ago, but which I let fall by the wayside. One of them is that not all calories are equal! Good calories work with the body, contributing to good health (and not being stored} and bad calories work against the body, so it isn't only cutting the calories that contribute to weight loss . Apparently the old saying 'we are what we eat' has some truth in it.It's a bit of a bummer, but maybe worth looking into? It's also true that under eating makes your body think there's a famine - our bodies haven't evolved much since caveman days and will store as much as it can to help us survive!60lbs is perfectly doable though Chrystal. It could be a lot worse. Have you started or are you still at the looking into it stage (it does take a while to find the motivation , i know) Do let us know how you are getting on. Well I managed over 11k steps yesterday, but diet wasn’t good. I didn’t eat a lot, but racked up a lot of calories, it was an odd kind of day. I still ate less than I burned, but it won’t surprise me if I go up on the scales again as I put back the pound I lost over the last week. The fancy scales tell me my fat is reducing and my muscle increasing, but I’d still like to be lighter overall.I did some walking around the tracks and was greeted by some cows and calves, who walked up to a gate to say hello 🥰 MrWW charged my car battery, but the starter issue I had hoped was linked to a low battery was still playing up. It’s been intermittent for years so the garage won’t look at it, they say go to the dealer, but that’s a full days trip so won’t be happening any time soon 😖
Someone MrWW knows at work offered him a sheepdog puppy. I desperately wanted to say yes, but said no. The house training during work hours again would be challenging, it would probably upset dog as she can’t jump up for cuddles anymore and seeing a pup doing it would be cruel. It would encourage me to walk every day, but would make my working days a lot longer. There are places we can’t go because of dog and we would be tied to another 12 plus years of that. Much as you think you can take dogs everywhere, you really can’t. You wouldn’t leave them in the car, you can’t take them inside most places, you’d never leave them outside alone, it makes for difficult days out and a much smaller world. And then the expense. I think I made the right decision, but still feel a bit sad.
i was unsupervised last night and binged watched The Gentlemen all the way through and spent £92 on replacing two sets of plates! I used to have 8 of the 8inch size which are perfect for sandwiches, but am down to 4 with breakages, then have smaller bread plates (like saucers really) that are all crazed with age. I collected the large set of everything one by one over 20 yrs ago and have added and replaced bits as needed. I have been watching these 2 sizes for over a year and they had 20% off and were the cheapest I’ve seen, so I went for it. They are portmeirion (did I spell that wrong?) and I like that they all have different pictures so it never gets boring. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Some cow spam, sadly after they had got bored of me, and some cherry blossom in the garden. I do love seeing the cherry blossom, it’s so cheerful!

You definitely made the right decision about the dog.
Lovely pics!
Enjoy your bank holiday Sunday 😊2 -
Beautiful photos. I can understand you being tempted by the dog but you made the right decision. We have a neighbour with a sheepdog and he walks it several times a day, they’re very energetic. The plates sound lovely, I love colourful crockery.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Love the pictures. I agree with your reasoning about the dog, it's why I won't get another one for now."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney1

It’s still grey here, a bit muggy feeling with a coat on, but too cold to be without one. MrWW came good as my car behaved impeccably with its full battery 😁 He got the top husband award for money saving 😅
i took the car for a drive to check all was ok and then did my country and beach walk. Harassed the lambs and calves by talking to them all and taking their pictures on my good zoom camera instead of just using the phone. There were a gaggle of foreign motor homes by the path down to the beach….and so it begins 🤣 I don’t like driving down the single track roads in case I meet a convoy at this time of year. I prefer to walk down for the exercise and also because it’s much less stressful to climb a grassy bank than it is to have to reverse for a mile in front of witnesses 😬🤭

Well done Mr WW! I hate single track lanes at the best of times!"If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney0

Our 15.5 year old dog is a border collie, and has not been my favourite animal since he chased a loose chicken to its untimely death about 14 years ago. They need a lot of entertainment.
I found out chickens could faint when the blasted thing magically revived as I stood over it. I nearly wet myself in fright, but sadly it died over night. Our lovely young and gentle lurcher is an absolute angel by comparison, as was the previous mature rescue lurcher. Don't tell mr redo but I'd never resist another lurcher puppy but I'd run for the hills against a border collie, or a lab, or a lab collie cross. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
