Good morning ☀️ Pay day today…hurrah!I have done a very severe money shuffle, putting the first payback into bonds, a £500 lump into savings to begin to fill the £1k emergency fund (which I should always have, but currently don’t) and a £400 lump to the pots, which were practically empty and need some consistent and heavy cash injections to get them where they need to be! Ouch. After the pet food, mortgage, standard mortgage overpayment and direct debits this leaves me with the princely sum of £143 for February, plus a Monzo savings pot of £100 as a buffer (just in case). Hopefully I can do it…I really need this kind of reset to get me back on track and owe myself some savings severity.
i have bought all the pet food and pet snacks for the month, which is always a very large expense as they are spoilt rotten, and have bought a box of white chunky kitkats for me (which I don’t need) and a box of 4 finger kitkats for MrWW. I have no reason to fritter anything else! I am on leave next week, but hoping for a low spend time.
I will aim to get some surveys under my belt and send anything I make to the m.o.t and service pot.
So that’s the February plan…fingers crossed!

MrWW likes the 4 finger ones, but if I crack one of those open I never remember eating the last 2 sticks…I usually reach for the next one and they’ve magically gone 😮Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

You can definitely do frugal Feb 💪
Are there any things you already own like jigsaws or craft or exercise or boxsets that you can line up as your 'shopped from home' activity for a day/evening when you're getting spendy-finger?3 -

Thanks @PennysIntoPounds, I do have things like that knocking around that I could definitely get on with. I have lots on my kindle too. I love the term spendy finger…I think I have 8 of them 🤭

Good morning and happy Thursday and happy February.
Last night we had an Indian takeaway to celebrate the start of MrWW’s leave. He gets the food and I provide the fizz (which we only have if we have a takeaway). Sadly it was the last bottle so I had to order another set of 6 at £44 so I can continue to fulfill my half of the bargain 😅 The last order was before Christmas so it evens out…but my poor spending money! I had also ordered some dog treats that I’d missed in the main order, so rounding down, my spending pot for February is now £70. Wish me luck! The rounding down was £8 which I shuffled to the Monzo general savings pot.I was looking longingly at the £100 allocated for my sisters birthday, but I won’t reduce it. Thinking about that always puts me in mind of the sister in law in sense and sensibility who manages to reduce the Dashwoods inheritance to next to nothing as they would be (forcibly ) living so simply they’d have nothing to spend it on 😅 I don’t want to be that lady 🤭
Work today, but only 2 days and then a glorious week off 😁
