I drive electric. My first one was a 66 reg Renault Zoe with a 100 mile range in town or 60-70 on the motorway. It was great for town, horrible for long trips. Only car and we had very little long trips so we made do for 4 years. Now I'm driving a Hyundai Kona electric with a 250-300 miles range, it is amazing! Compared to the last one anyway
It charges from 20% to 80% in 45 minutes, not too bad!
There's a cheaper one with about 180 miles range which is still great. Kia eNiro is similar. But electric are generally more expensive than their conventional counterpart, the one I'm driving is almost double. I just keep telling myself there's no road tax and on a sunny day I can get 250 miles for free as we're having solar panels.01.12.2020 - CC £16,839 / Loan £18,820 / EF £0

@Onebrokelady you might surprise yourself 🤣 I’m so laid back with other peoples mistakes and never get the rage. I love driving on my own and happily chunter to myself/dog or sing loudly as I go along, but I hate even the slightest whiff of criticism from my passengers (yes mr WW I’m looking at you) 😁Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

I worry about that too, yet we all have to have them by 2030 is it? I live in a flat in a town house right on the beach of a busy tourist town. Just finding and squeezing into a parking space is a nightmare most days - the thought of trying to find a charging post thingmebob every week brings me out in a cold sweat! 😂2

@jokono the new one sounds much better. Sadly I love the big gas guzzlers with a lot of power...to make up for it I’m actively reducing my plastic use 🤭Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

I also like reading your diary 😊by I don't have to worry about petrol because I've never learned to drive 😀
would you like to learn to drive? It’s never too late if it’s something you want to do. Not that it’s necessary, just if it’s something you’d like to do. I do remember a friends mum giving us a lift from school and going miles out of our way...it turned out she didn’t like to turn onto a particular busy main road and avoided most right turns 😁Sealed pot challenge 822

We've got one on our long road - ONE! 😂 For maybe 500 flats + tourists. However, I'm sure the government/council have got a sensible plan for how it's all going to work (she sniggered) 🙄🤦😂😂3

@elbree and you can almost guarantee charging will be dearer than petrol or diesel as soon as there’s no choice! Parking must be a nightmare for you in tourist season, but it must have lots of good points living where you are.Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Also someone will have to show me (multiple times) how to work the thingmebob - I still HATE getting petrol and gave been driving over 20 years, for goodness sake! Yes @WinterWarrior it is a wonderful place to live - spent day at the beach with daughter (7) and half a million holiday makers but it's a lovely atmosphere when the sun shines and everyone's having fun.2
