I always thought it was better not to drive on empty anyway because all the sludge from the bottom of the petrol tank gets pulled into the engine? I put petrol in mine once a week and have it set to how many miles left. I rarely fill it up  - it just uses more petrol hauling the extra fuel weight. It normally sits between a quarter and three quarters.

I didn’t think the sludge factor applied in modern cars, but I could be wrong? With working from home half a tank can often last me a month, so I don’t have to go that often, but half is my empty unless I’m on a long trip. I usually just budget £50 a month and it’s rare I go over that. Just over £44 today. 

Just as an aside, I love all the feedback on my diary. A casual comment about fuel, or premium bonds or the pets or whatever and we have lovely comments hearing about how we all deal with different things. It’s really nice, thank you. I was scared I’d be talking to myself, but I feel like I’ve made lots of friends ⭐️

When the late MrC was still alive I used to tell people that I had two children but one of them was much older than the other 😂 so yes, I understand that kind of talkng to yourself too

I have been thinking I may dabble in premium bonds, maybe £50 a month when my loans are freed up. I have a bad history with any kind of real saving, always pulling it back out and sabotaging myself. I think I may use this as a separate safety net as well as my savings account, just to see how it goes. I always worry about how easy I can pull money back, but it seems quite straightforward. I presume there is a rich people limit and not a normal limit 🤣
I was reading a diary that has really kicked off. The person is clearly struggling and has been getting some hard talking to, but it’s not doing any good and it’s uncomfortable reading. ☹️

My mortgage payment came out today on the new lower payment, so that was a relief. I’m always worried until it kicks in!

I also know which diary you are referring to 😟 I vowed not to read it anymore but got sucked back in to the new one which I now regret because as I commented I'm really worried about the child involved, it gave me a sleepless night 😟  the diary has now been removed.
