MrM is a rely on fumes way too.  I'm happy to drop low but if the petrol light comes on I panic! I'm always on the search for the cheapest petrol though!

I buck the trend and usually fill up around 100 miles left in the tank, but I do live within walking distance of a petrol station and fortunately, it is also the cheapest locally. If we were going away I would fill up a day or two before so we can just drive away when we are ready.

OMG if the light came on I’d be having kittens 🤣
I never shop around for fuel prices though, it’s like the price of a loaf of bread to me...I’ve no idea as I just know it’s essential. I know how much it costs me to normally fill up so I have a vague idea if the price has gone up or down.

Mr SA, when he was well and driving, was obsessed with the petrol gauge. The minute that needle moved downwards he was filling it back up again. He also used to go to the most expensive petrol station that wasn’t exactly nearby. He wouldn’t go to the closer cheaper one because he didn’t like the bloke who worked there 😩

That’s more unusual, men tend to be more fly by the seat of their pants where gauges are concerned 😬, although my lovely dad didn’t like to go below half, much like me. I do have a favourite station, but it’s more because I’m a planner and a worrier. I like to know which pumps are the right ones, which door to go in and whether it’s push or pull, etc. in advance. Long trips are a nightmare when I don’t know the stations, where the toilets are, where I’ll park...I still do it, but I worry about it for ages before hand 🙄

Oh that has made me laugh! 🤣

I had once hadxa fly by the seat of my pants moment with the petrol. My dog was at the supervets for some neurological tests. He'd been there all day and I was to collect him about 7pm. There had been a terrible accident on the A3 and I sat in traffic for 2 hours watching my petrol gauge click down. I got to the vets at gone 9pm and  think I managed to glide into the next petrol station on a wing and a prayer!

Congrats on opening the PB account :)

My DH always drives on empty, it stresses me out so much!  We were on holiday once in the middle of nowhere, and we went up a massive hill and the gauge said 0 miles left.  I was completely having kittens as we didn't know where the next petrol station was and there was no phone signal.  We did make it though!  I'm not sure I'll ever forgive him :D

lol, mine is the same...11 miles into town and 6 miles left on the reading...we’ve always ‘just made it’, but I really hate playing that game and won’t do it with mine 🙄  You have both pulled up anecdotes that will give me nightmares 😮
