You haven't claimed any expenses as such. Neither pension contributions nor charitable payments are expenses. In an employment context, expenses would include, for example, telephone costs you pay yourself for a telephone used for work purposes, where the costs were not reimbursed.

has anyone heard anything  about there tax return yet  since sending back the letter and id. Apart from id back  been 8weeks  and nothing
  • No nothing been told not to contact till September
  • Submitted my self assessment 6th April and still bank repayment pending 😂 haven’t received and letters spoke to an agent online who tells me to wait 😂 wait for what ? Christmas ? 😂 over five months of bank payments pending
  • SA filed first week of March and fined £100 within a week. Security paperwork received 14/5 and returned same day. They confirmed receipt of it but repayment STILL pending as of today! Are they processing one person a day? How long does it take to look at four pieces of paper?

The wait depends on where you are in the queue. Do you think someone was sitting waiting for your correspondence to arrive?

Your case would be added to the queue waiting to be dealt  with when your reply was received.

The computer allocates  cases from that list in order.

  • Like most I’ve been waiting since beginning of April for my refund on overpaid tax. Submitted a complaint a few weeks back and received a call this week saying my claim has been paid. Sure enough money was in today.

Looks like they’re working through the claims, albeit slowly.

Of course I don’t expect an instant response but surely their system is sophisticated enough to be able to give approximate dates or an idea of where one is in the queue. It’s hardly a difficult or unrealistic expectation. They’re quick enough to issue and collect a fine for filing a week late!
