You have a high opinion of the old computer system HMRC have.simonkj said:
Of course I don’t expect an instant response but surely their system is sophisticated enough to be able to give approximate dates or an idea of where one is in the queue. It’s hardly a difficult or unrealistic expectation. They’re quick enough to issue and collect a fine for filing a week late!sheramber said:
The wait depends on where you are in the queue. Do you think someone was sitting waiting for your correspondence to arrive?simonkj said:SA filed first week of March and fined £100 within a week. Security paperwork received 14/5 and returned same day. They confirmed receipt of it but repayment STILL pending as of today! Are they processing one person a day? How long does it take to look at four pieces of paper?
Your case would be added to the queue waiting to be dealt with when your reply was received.
The computer allocates cases from that list in order.

Was this complaint dome through a form of some sort? Tried to complain on Web chat but told me had to do it through a system of forms etcBite_Me said:Like most I’ve been waiting since beginning of April for my refund on overpaid tax. Submitted a complaint a few weeks back and received a call this week saying my claim has been paid. Sure enough money was in today.
Looks like they’re working through the claims, albeit slowly.0 -
If you search hmrc general enquiries there's a bit at the bottom that takes you to the complaints form0
