Is it the surf 2 letter requesting the Id and payslips that you recieved  ?
Yes but not pay slips. I am employed so they asking for ID and documents as laid out. I am not sure if I need to send cover letter with it? There is line in there asking to confirm if I have receipts for expenses. Where do I write this?
    have you claimed expenses?
  • Yes so that was my question do I need to send each and every detail of expenses and receipts?

If they have only asked you to confirm you have receipts don't send them yet. They will ask for them if they want them.

Just make sure you have receipts for everything you have claimed so you can send them if requested.

it would be better to enclose a covering letter quoting any reference numbers on the HMRC letter, saying you enclose the documents requested and can confirm you  have receipts -assuming you do have receipts for everything.
  • Thank you

this is what I am referring to and wasn’t sure if I should send it now? Yes I do have receipts.

I filed my returns for last year a few days ago and wanted to double check/confirm does it take a few days to show tax owed?.
I saw an estimated amount before I submitted but it says "your balance - you have no tax to pay" on assessment page.

Check ‘View your calculation’ for the amount which is due. There is no ‘estimated amount’ as you suggest.
The message is correct as, at this point, no tax is indeed payable as it is not due until 31st January 2022. The account will be updated shortly before that date.

Found it thanks. Is there any reason not to pay it now /before its due?,will it automatically be applied to the bill when it becomes due?. Its less than £1000 and I have the money saved for it.
