Reading through the manual again it seems under advanced settings it has three options:-

Basic - for 24 hour operation (which I think is the current setting)

    Weekly programme

Off - which includes frost protection

They're is also the option further on in the menus to set the balancing element to 0, which I believe would disable it.

So would one of these achieve the objective of turning off the heater if the E7 is also switched off rather than the on/off switch? Would using the "Off" setting in the operating mode menu be the easiest option.

No reliance should be placed on the above.

Personally I'd leave both supplies switched ON but choose the OFF setting in the heater menus.

When it turns cold again you'll only have one thing to remember to switch back on.

On if not on both - but on at least the 24/7 - but heat Off sounds like a plan.

But only as not sure how long the programmer "battery" would last with zero power.

The Elnurs contain a balance heating element off of the live supply - upto around 1kW I guess based on the Dimplex equivalent - I'd have to download a manual again to be sure - so I suspect that could have been the reason for the peak rate energy use.

On the Ecombi HHR - I think it can run for upto 5 hours with default parameters - as shipped. In past - probably even above - there has been discussion about setting that down to 1 - not zero.

Zero disables the auto charge learning mode. Later versions of the manual now warn you not to use 0 if want that to run.

I have a horrible memory of reading another in their series manual - a lower end model - where it was actually the full 17 hours it mentioned (that though is the total non E7 hours) - so I might have got that wrong.
