If holidays within the UK are allowed after 12 April ( that will only happen if the government is satisfied its four tests are being met)
then the stay local guidance would presumably end then too?
Stay at home for England ends on 29 March

We’ve previously had guidance of 5miles, in Wales. This time around it has been made clear local, can be more than 5 miles for those in rural areas.

It is changing from stay home to stay local, which was the reason for my question. I think I'll wait to see if they offer more clarity on what that means before deciding. I can wait another fortnight to see them if necessary obviously.

There won’t be any more clarity than there is now if it stays as keep local.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

People should use their common sense. Living in a very rural area, as I do, is entirely different from being in a city. I can't get things I need without driving a minimum of 25 miles. There's also social bubbles to consider which may also mean quite long trips for country dwellers.

"Stay local", is a woolly and open to interpretation phrase.

We have one set of parents that live only 5 miles away, but over the county border, and the others are in the same local authority as us, but are just over 20 miles away!!!

To me, these could both be argued to be "local".
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

It has clearly been stated that stay at home is ending and stay local is not.

In Scotland when they said local council area you could only have visited the one in the same council even if the other parents were less miles away.
For instance I know someone who would usually shop at a supermarket in the next council. They had to use the one in the same council even though it wasn't as close.
