I think the bible had something to say about that!
The bible made a claim that a man made a boat to carry a a random number (the two by two/pairs thing was only introduced in the English translation, in Latin is is generally 3/5/7 and in older texts, dead sea scrolls etc. is is "some") of every species on the earth and that none of them would eat each other, and that is one of it's more believable stories, I would not really use it as a reliable source.
There were people interviewed on local TV the other day who did not think it was a problem to travel 80-90 miles to visit the Coast. Local??
No, not local, but a coastal visit used to involve that sort of distance and a little more when the kids were young.
I would say, "How about Weston; (Super-Mare) it's only an hour?"
And they would say "Noooooo! That isn't proper seaside!"
The beach they liked involved a 1/2 mile trek after parking the car. Needless to say, it was never that busy! Probably a good bet this weekend if your brass monkeys need freezing.
It's always meant within your own council boundary where I am.
If you're in England that stopped applying at the end of December last year, when local was redefined as the town, village or part of the city where you live unless you have a good reason to travel further, when prior to that for those in tier 3/4 areas it meant your local council area.
You wouldn’t get much shopping if you stated local to my village. it’s about 3 miles to big Tesco.
