i complete my house purchase on 5th March, on 6th March received letter from council that my next door neighbour has applied for planning permission for rear extension. The sellers didn’t inform on the property information form of this. I have sent letter to the planning officer objecting to this due to loss of light and privacy issues. It’s already seven bed house from originally 3 bed house.
Yesterday the tenants had very loud dance/ trance music on until 1:30 am. My wife phoned police but no luck. I’m hoping it’s one off and not regular occurrence.
what should I do?

If you completed on the 5th, and got a notice from the council on the 6th then technically your seller probably didn't know? I am no sure whether "loss of light" is something you can reject a planning app for?Ref noise, it sounds like this is a "HMO" as you mention "tenants"?. Again unlikely the police will be interested. You should keep a log of any noise issues as you may need to "go formal" at some point, however if you do then you will need to disclose this dispute if / when you decide to sell..."It's everybody's fault but mine...."2

Not everyone tells their neighbours before submitting planning permission so how would the vendors have known?
Like @Stubod says is it a hmo? If so did you not check before you bought? We didn't view a house ad a quick search showed next door was a hmo. Having said that I really hope it was a one off for you.

The noise was very loud in a small garden, I’m thinking of getting good quality noise cancelling ear buds.
I'm worried about going formal to the council in case I need to sell.2 -

House sellers are required to complete the form to the best of their knowledge. Psychic abilities are not required.I have sent letter to the planning officer objecting to this due to loss of light and privacy issues.
Such is, of course, your prerogative. The planners will take it into consideration. They may grant it anyway if they don't feel it a substantive enough issue to reject the app. It’s already seven bed house from originally 3 bed house.
Which you knew when you viewed and offered, right?Yesterday the tenants had very loud dance/ trance music on until 1:30 am. My wife phoned police but no luck.
You need to speak to the council, not the police.3 -

Yes, it's a coincidence... No more than that.
The app probably went in weeks ago. Was the vendor on speaking terms with the applicant?
How long ago was that PIF completed?4 -

Have you been round to meet the neighbours ? That will tell you if it is a family or hmo. The app is the perfect excuse.1

A 3 bed to 7 bed, and now further extension planned - Sounds like a massive overdevelopment of a residential building out of character with most urban areas. Contest it on that along with the lack of parking (as well as loss of light and privacy concerns).Look at the planning policy for your area and pitch your objections factually, and based on the policy docs. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.3 -
3 bed to 7 bed, now further extension? Looks like councils are zealous when it’s not necessary and slack when it’s obvious planning permission should be denied! I am really sorry OP as what you are experiencing really spoils your living experience. This is a time when you should be relaxing in your new home. I don’t think your vendor would have known though as it seems the next door landlord is inconsiderate. He is obviously overdeveloping this premises at the expense of his neighbours. Hope you can get the application declined. Good luckInitial mortgage bal £487.5k, current £258k, target £243,750(halfway!)
