Do you have a photobucket account redruby? That's probably an easy way to do it. You download your photos to photobucket then use a link to put them on this site. That way, if you want to take any photos off, you just delete them from photobucket instead of having to search the forums for your pictures. It's free by the way.
Mars vodka sounds like my kind of thing. How did you make it please?0 -
Hi cranky,
I don't have a photobucket acc, but will look into setting one up.
The mars vodka, is very easy, I think Mrs Mcawber, gave me the recipe.
All you do is get mars bars, chop them up into small pieces, put them into kilner jars, and pour vodka over the top, and leave for the mars to disolve, I think mine have been disolving for about 2 months, and it was nearly done, I just mashed the remaining bits of chocolate with a fork. I used 15 mars bars  , in 2 x litre kilner jars, and one bottle of cheap vodka, it is b***dy delicious, very rich, but lovely, I got some port sipping glasses from lakeland and will have it in those.
Thanks for the help re the photos, and good luck re the vodka xx0 -

Evening All
Had a nice day today despite the weather. Took DS footie this morning, posted an ebay parcel and went to the library.
When DS came home went into a local town, had a buffet indian lunch and then watched the Golden Compass - very good film though Daniel Craig wasnt in it for as long as I would have liked lol.
Just watched SCD - poor Matt and now everyone else is watching Christmas with the Kranks whilst I surf.
Am seriously hoping that DS footie match is cancelled tomorrow if the weather is like today. OH & I want to clean the house top to bottom as we are having our new settee delivered Monday - also comin is our WII which I managed to get from Argos - this is a family present.
Well off for a lovely relaxed surf - have a great evening whatever you are doing.

I have not posted for some time, but after receiving some news today I felt I should share it with you.
As you know earlier this year we moved into sheltered housing, which to say the least, cost us a packet.
In the autumn I applied for attendance allowance for OH as his syncopy was getting quite bad and I have to go everywhere with him. If I don’t go with him I spend all the time he is away worrying if I am going to get a phone call to say he has collapsed somewhere.
Much to my surprise we were given the allowance at the lower amount of £43.15 per week…………….we had at the same time asked about getting our bathroom converted into a shower room, or getting a shower installed over the bath, we were referred to social services who told us we would be put on a waiting list, our neighbour has been on the same list for 2 years and is still waiting. I decided to apply to the Civil Service Benevolent Fund for help. We had both been civil servants and OH was the rep for Edinburgh for 3 years.
I had a letter from them today to say that that although they could not help us with the shower, they were sending us a cheque for £700 against the cost of us moving……………what do I do with it……….at the moment it is sitting in my account waiting for it to clear……do I put it into the bank against the overdraft we had to run up when we moved. Do I put in a shower over the bath???????????????? And put the rest in our emergency account………………HELP………………….. a shower would be so much use to us, we would be able to shower everyday instead of having a bath every other day and having to kneel in the bath because neither of us can get up if we sit down, plus the bath is so short, OH cannot put his legs down in the water.
In October I was fortunate enough to be able to buy my dream sewing machine, since then I have made a ring pillow and card for a friends daughters wedding. All my Christmas cards, and presents made. I was asked by a lady I made a quilt for earlier this year to make a table runner for her neighbour, I used the sewouts to make one for the lady herself and they have been posted off, right now I am making 8 table mats for a lunch I am cooking for 14 of the residents…we have the Lord Mayor visiting the same day, the jewels are being retrieved from the bank vaults as I type!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Phew that’s enough to be going on with………………
Hugs to those who need them.........espceially Pen P, Catowen and Taplady, hope your sons experiences do not put him off driving... to the rest of you, find a few moments to chill.................

Hi Csarina
Nice to hear from you again, and glad to hear your good news. It's always hard to know what to do for the best, but my opinion is that you should check when you may get a shower, and if not on the radar screen, have one put over the bath, and then pay the balance off the overdraft. I cannot see how there is any point saving for an emergency when you have to pay interest on a overdraft. If you clear it or nearly clear it then you have the chance to do the same again if you hit an emergency.
Take care

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Hi Darling!
I am so pleased for you and your OH:j :j :j :j :j :j
Have you chased the SS up at all with regards to the walk in shower? Most councils have new funding in April every year, so fingers x'd you will get it fitted after that. These adaptions are normally put in priority order.
You could always call the SS and explain the difficulties your OH is having and having the shower fitted sooner would mean your OH can live a better quality of life and be more independant
If it was me and I knew the shower wouldnt be fitted for at least 2 years, I would put it towards a shower as it will make your life easier and would maybe help your OH not feel so dependant on you.
If you want to PM me please do as I have some experiance in these matters being through it myself.
Huge hugs coming your way.
All the best.

hi csarina.
personally, I would pay off the overdraft with it.
the thing is if you pay for it yourself then social services wont put one in, and it sounds like a walk in shower will probably be the best thing for you.
social services will never pay off your overdraftbujt if it came to it and they wont get it sorted you could always re-borrow it back.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
The problem with social services is that they have such a long waiting list we could be dead by the time they get round to us. Our neighbour has been on the SS emergency waiiting list for 2 years. When she phoned SS told her it would be another 2 years at least before they got round to her!!!!! She has now contacted SAFFA to see if they can help her.
2 years ago, the sheltered housing officer found a source of cash from the EU and a lot of the bathrooms were convered, but the money has dried up. Our apartment was not one of the lucky ones, so we are stuck with a bath that is only long enough for me to sit in (iI am 5'2" oh is 5'9")I cannot sit down, if I do I cannot get up again despite the rail and handles on the bath.
I really am in a spin, just do not know what to do, during the year I have managed to put away the money for our holiday next year and also put some cash into an emergency account in case we had a real emergency.......yes we have an overdraft, its being paid off gradually and we should be debt free in about 2 years.....the OD would be cleared this year in any case. I guess the best thing would be to reduce the OD, but we really need that shower!!!!Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -

As for the money aspect I'm not sure what I would do as I am a firm believer in the welfare state and the fact it should provide for us.But If it adds to your quality of life and you have the money then maybe that is the way to go
