I`ve been with TT for years and every time my contract`s up for renewal I`ve never yet found a better deal anywhere else.

Whilst I agree TT are always competitive if you push them hard enough at renewal time, I normally find if you take into account the fact that other companies often offer you a reward of up to a £100 or sometimes even more to switch to them, I can normally beat their price by moving away. There's also the potential cashback from the likes of Quidco and TopCashback to consider as well. However the potential hassle in moving away is not normally worth the small saving I would make overall, and I stick with TT.

Talk Talk has always used sharp practise its nothing new at all I believe its standard practise .

Unless you can play them at ones own game and can be bothered to do so then thats fine otherwise you can expect underhand behaviour.

Im not so sure they are the cheapest either ....again you need to put in time and effort finding a deal .
I think this is where people fall down as its time consuming doing so

They are almost impossible to beat on price. Try getting this lot included with your fibre broadband for less than £24 per month. Those add ons, which are incredibly useful, cost an arm and a leg with most providers.

    Unlimited UK Calls Boost

    Reminder call

    Call waiting

    Ring back

    Three-way calling

Call diversion (without charge for the onward call)

    Caller Display

    Last caller barring

But none of those things are any use to us here at Unjust towers, the only reason we have a landline is for the internet (and for the MIL to ring us as she doesn’t do mobile phones)

Future TT price rises are now built in to contract  cpi plus xx %.
  • As most have mentioned, you have to keep your eye on the ball with TT and be prepared to haggle. I definitely wouldn't recommend them to an elderly person or someone who isn't internet savvy.
After recently completing my switch away from TT, my final bill was in credit and I was required to apply for my refund. They very graciously approved the refund and payed it 5 days later. Thanks TT

Just had a lengthy online chat with Talk Talk. They wouldn't budge on either offering me a better deal or on a £2pcm 'credit' against my bill.

Perhaps my negotiating skills weren't great. What made it worse is the chat began from my issues I've had with connectivity.

You need to speak to retentions and threaten to leave and tell them it`s because they have broken their promise of no price increases during period of contract.

I always use webchat so you have a copy of what was said.
    Ask for retentions.

Won't they just say there's an exit fee to pay?

They have to give you 30 days notice of a price increase and also give you the option to end your contract penalty free.
On the email you got about the increase, there will be a date by which you have to notify them that you want to leave.
(should be 30 days from when you got the email).

There is no exit fee if you tell them before that date but you need to speak to retentions to get a better deal.

That date has passed, was emailed in early March.
My question is whether they can enforce a 30 day period within which you can leave penalty free. It might be in their T&C's, doesn't mean Ofcom or a MCOL would see it as a fair term though.
  • It is an OFCOM agreed period.
