Glad you had a good time in Wells, it's really lovely there
Definitely get chasing your solicitor and estate agents as we didn't do this once it went quiet and I think if we had done so we would be in the new house by now. Instead, we are now chasing solicitors. Once searches are complete for all it should be plain sailing (but not in our case it seems)
Good luck and well done on using budget for the trip and birthday, it really makes a difference doesn't it?

We live 'oop norf' so we aren't impacted by the deadline until the end of September as our property is below the thresh hold. Although it does make me wonder if things would be quicker if we WERE impacted. I hope they come back to you with positive news

Oh no! That’s not great
There are so many houses on the market (and still being listed) that hopefully it will be completed soon?
Aside from the stamp duty, is there a specific rush to move? I mean, I’m the most impatient person I know so this news would potentially crush me...
I hope you get it figured out mate

The first goal was to move before stamp duty, the second was to move before the start of the next school year and that is looking unlikely as the ‘progressor’ estimates several months before everyone will be ready.Credit Card 1 £9602.23 £0

That sucks. I can understand why there’s a big decision to be made. Are there any other properties you’ve seen that you like? I know if our chain collapsed I’d be heartbroken

LMD xLuckily this is a box tick house rather than a dream house so not too upset, more annoyed that the estate agents have been a bit underhand about the chain!Credit Card 1 £9602.23 £0

Quick update.
June is normally a bad money month as it’s awash with birthdays - daughters, wife’s, Mums, Nephews. Also Father’s Day in the mix as well. Just about managed to get through it with some budgeting and it was nice to do some ‘normal’ activities like the cinema and restaurants.
House update:
Got fed up of waiting for the chain nothing had changed in over a month and the chain still wasn’t complete. The progressor wasn’t able to get anyone to break the chain so we pulled out.
Instead we’ve got a new build that we should be moved into by the end of next month, hopefully the saga ends there! The house is built just needs flooring put down and our buyers are ready to go so hopeful things will progress smoothly now!Credit Card 1 £9602.23 £0

Getting back to some kind of ‘normal’ is definitely encouraging and we have been doing the same. We are going away at the weekend too as we have had yet another holiday cancelled.Well done on securing the new build. Are you part exchanging or continuing with your sale? Our move is looking decidedly shaky above us in the chain but we are sticking with it. If it collapses we will still sell ours and either rent or stay with family until we find something else. Every day we hope for some news but nothing.Really well done on clearing those cards by the way, fab job!LMD xLife gets in the way...PADding is addictive...Saving's better than spending...My savings diary - Now for a healthier, wealthier me2025 1p challenge #41 | Cash envelope challenge #01 | SPC #017Sealed pot 2025 £5678 | EF £1000/£1000 | Sabbatical £3188/£6000 | Travel savings £1924 | Sinking pots £21261
