@LittleMissDetermined buying a house is no good for my natural impatience! It’s a bit like tackling the debts, initial flurry of exciting activity, then settle into the long grind!

Sorting the garage out is a house related activity to make me feel like the ball is still rolling! I had a mini clear out before Christmas so there isn’t too much to do, just a couple of shuttles to the tip!

  • Lots of luck with the trips to the tip, ours is blooming carnage at the moment and we still have some stuff to take from doing up the kitchen before we put the house on the market.
I've been making use of the clothes / books donation bins in Tesco car park whilst the charity shops have been closed.

Hope your week off went well and you managed to get what you wanted done.  The weather seemed to hold so that's a bonus!  We have decided to do a car boot sale this coming weekend and I am not looking forward to the 4am start.

    Pay day up-date.

All good money wise last month, no spending outside of budget which was good as we had a week off over Easter and did a few bits and bobs.

I’ve done the normal payday money shuffle and we now have 5.2k in the house move fund, speaking of which...

Found out last Monday that our vendors have pulled out, they were looking to downsize and be mortgage free, but couldn’t find anywhere that facilitated this. I was starting to get a bad vibe as things had gone very quiet from their side.

Anyway, I’d get an eye on what was available and quickly booked viewings on a couple of potentials, one of which was a good match for us and we had an offer accepted. Hopefully this one goes through! We’ve had the mortgage application reviewed and reapproved pending a valuation survey, I’ve told them to hold on for now on that until our new vendors have somewhere locked in as I don’t want to keep throwing £200 down the drain!

Long update but essentially all is well financially, hiccup with the house but hopefully now back on track!

  • That's frustrating, everything was going well... our vendors and our buyers are as frustrated as we are with how long our move is taking.  The solicitors are really dragging their heels.

Hope you remain back on track, I agree with your approach re: the £200, no point throwing money at it until it's nailed on.

Yes very frustrating! I think we were fortunate to get something else we were happy with so quickly as there doesn’t seem to be much coming on the market in our price range at the moment!

We got the mortgage offer paperwork through today for the other place, won’t make that mistake again, I’ll keep the £200 until the vendors are ready to get moving!

Quick up date, good news this week!

our vendors have found somewhere to move to and the chain is complete, hopefully things will start moving now.

Moneywise good news from work. We’ve been working on a proposal that is now finished and I got an award for my efforts. Works out as £150 of Amazon vouchers and some money through payroll, very nice!

I’ve also completed my tax self-assessment and have got a £374 rebate inbound. Hopefully that’s the end of the tax shenanigans now, they’ve confirmed I don’t need to do a self-assessment next year.

Hope anyone reading has a cracking bank holiday weekend!

  • Woah, that's a really positive good news update! Congrats on the bonus and rebate!  Our house move is still stagnant so I wouldn't be surprised if you move before we do!

    Have a fab weekend

    Pay day update.
A good month just gone, we stuck to our budgets with more money going in the moving fund. We had a nice weekend trip to Wells for my lads birthday and it felt good using budgeted money to pay for the trip and his birthday presents.

    Moving update.
All frustratingly quiet, we’ve had our mortgage re-approved and the chain is complete. No idea if we’ve got any chance of beating stamp duty, I’m going to ring the solicitors and estate agents today to see where we are at.
