  • Well done on dipping below the £11k mark, it's these little boosts that keep us going!  Stay focused on that mortgage calculator and the difference it can make, trust me when I say that a mortgage application with o/s credit card debt is nerve wrecking, I'm living that pain now and waiting for our decision with bated breath (every wish, hope and dream focused on the positive here)...

Good luck, keep focused and you'll see those cc totals come down soon enough!

@LittleMissDetermined Good luck with the mortgage app, fingers crossed for you! The mortgage calculator is a good tool for us, I've saved the details of exactly where we were at the LBM and compare the results to where we are now, already a significant difference really motivating for us!

Success with HMRC yesterday, my tax code has been all over the place since I left the military and has recently been impacted by child benefit - we were still claiming and paying back what we weren't entitled to by self assessment. I've had the tax code through for next year and again my personal allowance had been cut down this time for a deduction for child benefit, phoned and explained that I repay by self assessment and they've removed the deduction. We also stopped claiming child benefit in January as we're now not entitled to anything. Hopefully my tax code will settle down now!

I've been a bit lax with selling stuff recently so going to have a rummage in the garage at lunch time and find at least one thing to pop on flea bay.

    Quiet week so far.
Had a rummage in the garage for something to put on flea bay, found an electric sander that was used once then forgotten about, listed and it's got bids so pleased with that.
Also have £20 from topcashback due to clear any day and £10 from Prolific, so hopefully a bit extra going against the CCs this month.
I've worked out what my pay packet should be once my pay rise is implemented and tax code change comes into effect, should be looking at £200 more coming in each payday!

@LittleMissDetermined I hope so, looking forward to adjusting the spreadsheet when it kicks in!

Quiet weekend planned, only pressure washing the drive on the agenda. Also need to check that the kids can still get in their school uniforms ready for Monday.

You story sounds like my husbands, I knew he had credit cards, but didn't say anything till May 2019! We have now cleared the debt as on Dec 2020, switching to 0% cards, panelbase ans populus surveys, ebaying, switching bank accounts and no longer having overdrafts was the best move!! The bank didn't like it!!!!! So good luck with your journey.
Just a couple of things to consider - have you switched bank accounts, the £125 deals are now coming up. You also mentioned overdraft Nationwide flex account were offering 0% over draft  (2k) for one year, this helped me...I cleared it but gave me breathing room in the first year, then made it so I have no overdraft at all. You can also spread you council tax over 12 months (just call up). This has helped me budget each month as I know exactly what is going out over the year as each month is the same ish.
I also look at my bank account each night online...I never use to!
Hope this helps in a small way.
