I had a final GNE bill which was incorrect - the meter readings were higher than the opening meter readings with EDF, so they were double charging me. At the third attempt with EDF's online chat I got someone who knew what they were doing and they put a hold on my first EDF payment until I get an accurate final GNE bill (and correct brought forward balances). A month later, and I'm still waiting!

Maybe I will just get the bill in time.  I had a credit balance of between £400 and £500 when GNE went under.  I am sure I owe that much to EDF by now as I've not paid them anything.

Just want to get the whole episode sorted and move to Octopus.

Never had a bill from GNE. Not even a final one.

Not sure if I should be posting here or if there is another forum somewhere for complaints re EDF (sorry).

Had my final GNE statement in May showing GNE charges to 31 Jan and charges at 'Welcome GNE Variable 3 V3' (so EDF) from 31 Jan to 29 Apr. The debit balance 'will transfer to your new EDF account'. There is a  wrongly estimated gas meter readings for 29 Apr which I'm hoping will be sorted when I get my first 'proper' bill from EDF. To be on the safe side I'm sending monthly meter readings - even though they say they don't want them!

On 9 August they told me that my meter readings had to be submitted by 18 August so that I wouldn't get an estimated bill. I did that on 14 August and a message popped up saying that my bill would be available to view in 2 days time. I've logged on today (just in case) and under My Account/Account Activity is a message saying that they are giving me more time to submit my meter reading which is now needed by 8 Sept!!! What IS this company playing about at???

Will be looking to switch but need to check that they aren't going to mess up my meter readings yet again before I risk it.

*UPDATE 17/08/21* and now they're generated a bill..... but with a totally different estimated gas meter reading for 29/4. Bl**dy company.
  • Nearly four months after my transfer date (29 April 2021), after hours of time wasted in WhatsApp and Chat exchanges with EdF and telephone calls to GNE, GNE (in administration) has at last sent me a closing statement which uses sensible meter readings for 29 April, the same as the ones on my opening statement from EdF. EdF's systems continue to claim that (definitely correct) meter readings I currently provide 'look wrong'. I'm moving to Octopus. The process appears to be under way. It remains to be seen whether EdF will accept the opening meter readings which I will supply to Octopus.
Meanwhile, the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman is considering a complaint from me that Ofgem misled consumers (and MSE) by claiming that GNE ceased trading on 31 January 2021. In my case, GNE (in administration) continued trading with me until 29 April 2021.

GNE (in administration) can trade if in the view of the administrators that gives the best chances of returns for the creditors, but that doesn't mean that GNE didn't cease trading at the earlier date.

Has anyone else here who was moved from GNE been sent an email and offered  by EDF.  Fix Total Service Sep24v2.      Any thoughts on this tariff?

No email but looks like its EDF's only non mandatory smart meter offer.  As tempting as a 3 year fixed tariff is, its way more than Avro, UP etc. I'd much rather stay with EDF, used to their oddities, but now I'm not so sure

I think that GNE (in administration) is the same legal entity as GNE (when solvent). GNE (in administration) continued to trade, under the rules which protect administrators (unlike directors) from personal responsibility for the company's debts.
