Progress at last - now at level 4 All Complete. I can enter meter reads.1st DD taken last week
My transfer also reached "level 4 all complete" a few days ago and I gave my meter readings too. Hopefully a final GNE statement will now be forthcoming. No direct debit taken yet though
Dream on SOP. I reached level 4 on 27 April, ddm with EDF going through OK. Spoke with GNE yesterday re final billing. Their response...the final billings normally take 4/6 weeks but there are delays and no one can say just how long!
I guess I'd better not hold my breath then!

Is anyone else still waiting to hear from EF? I've heard nothing so far.

This is correct as I received my final bill this week.
Its broken down in to two sections on a per fuel basis.
Until January 31 you are billed on your GNE tariff. From Feb 1, when EDF took over, you are billed on your EDF tariff.
If you did not supply a reading on January 31 then this is estimated. If you want to give a more accurate one then you can call EDF up and they will adjust it for you.
Any balance, credit or debit, showing on the final bill then transfers over to your EDF account.
Hopefully the remainder of our final bills are not far behind then - I am waiting for that and the return of my substantial credit balance with GNE and as soon as I can I'll be off to the market to get a good deal somewhere else.  If it gets to end June, I will just leave.

When you say "nothing" do you mean "absolutely nothing". None of the general emails of Feb, March and April.?

I got nothing specific until May 5 when I got my account number DD and Tariff detail.   Since then I have heard nothing but the website has progressed as far as my account is concerned.

@powerful_Rogue  Have you got an account number, looked on the website ?????//
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

I had occasional very general emails, then finally received my welcome email with an account number and details of my tariff last night. I've registered my account online and called to correct my address today. Still no DD showing on my account and when I called to change my address I asked about meter readings and was told they aren't ready for them yet.
  • I've had my closing GNE statement and the balance is almost £800 in debit whereas my last bill in December was in credit.  Looking at the closing GNE statement the pages of Gas calculations show 4 years of ESTIMATE readings, with no actual readings which I have on every single statement from GNE since 2017.  What's worse is the final reading is an estimate for the gas meter that was exchanged for Smart meter in Jan, and isn't even on their closing statement.   So the closing calculation being passed to EDF is very wrong indeed and based on a meter that no longer exists.

I've contacted EDF and GNE administrators team but I was already told they had limited ability to make changes?  I get the feeling they can recalculate the closing bill to pass on to EDF, on whatever basis they like (wrong in my case), and I'll just have to accept the bill for the large debit with EDF.  This feels very unfair indeed, and there doesn't seem to be a formal way to challenge these closing statements.  I have every PDF invoice and pictures of the meeting readings at the day of the exchange. Is there anything else I should be doing or where I can escalate this?

Just wait for the actual bill and if it is still wrong, dispute it immediately and record every correspondence (name, time and date) until you are happy. Nobody can fix anything without an actual bill. Just maybe the bill will be as you expect.

This sounds very wrong indeed. The closing statement prepared from GNE (in administration) should be for the period from your last GNE bill (probably in or around December 2020?) to the transition date when EdF set you up as an EdF customer (April 2021 or later). It should be based on meter readings EdF should have asked you for just before the transition date - or in your case taken from your smart meter(s). (In my case, that was true for gas, but for electricity EdF accepted an estimate from GNE which was way too high EdF said they would contest this, but either they didn't, or GNE ignored them and went ahead with the number GNE made up.)
The closing statement issued by GNE (in administration) makes clear that is not request for payment. Things should come right on the first EdF bill, for the period from the transition date to the date of this first EdF bill (maybe September 2021 onwards?) EdF say they will ask for meter readings (or read the smart meters?) before they calculate this first bill.
If your closing statement from GNE (in administration) goes back 4 years (thus overlapping with bills from GNE when it was solvent?), something is seriously wrong. If phoning the number for GNE (in administration) given on the closing statement gets nowhere, you could try writing to the administrators. I do not know whether you can escalate to the Energy Ombudsman.

!!!!!! who works out these estimated meter readings????!!! (Electric is fine...it's always the gas that's wrong historically)
PS I was never asked to provide any 'closing' meter readings for 29/4/21 by EDF

I also note that you have noticed the slight oddity in January on your bill (a similar one exists on my final bill too) of 5 days of non-DD tariff standing charge (7 days in my case) leading to an extra charge across gas and electricity of just under £2 - probably not worth the effort of complaining about on an individual basis, but if this has been done across 300k customers, this nets an extra £0.5 million or so for GNE's creditors. Any one know why this brief change to non-DD tariff is there?

ps My first post here - hello everyone...
I too have a few days of non-DD tariffs on my closing GNE statement. I think this is a bug in the software that GNE (in administration) is using. In my case it's from the start date of the statement to the date GNE (then solvent) took my regular monthly direct debit. Only a pound or so, and, as you say, not worth individual customers attempting to dispute it. But, also as you say, summed over all the customers, will be welcome to GNE's creditors, who will get a bit more than the number they first thought of.
Incidentally, my GNE closing statement was emailed to me from noreply@greennetworkenergy.co.uk - not (as I wrongly expected) made available in my on-line EdF account.

Thanks Nicholas for all this information.  Really helpful.  I've managed to contact with GNE administrators who after some persuasion will revisit the closing statement.  They were adamant it was correct and I forwarded every single PDF bill for 3 years with GNE and illustrated not one of the readings was on the statement.  They also now accepted the meter change was missing from the bill.  I was a bit taken back in email replies that stated, their estimated were correct and they implied there was little they could do - but as you say its all clearly wrong and very unfair.  I'm yet to receive a revised statement but hope they do soon.  I've provided EDF with the same previous bills, details of meter change - all the clear evidence the opening balance they calculate is very wrong.  I just hope they do get it correct and they do revise the statement.  What I did find out is for my gas bill, they re-input all the readings as manual estimates into their system (the wrong readings mind you), because they lost supply to EDF and had no ability to regenerate the statement - all seems odd.  Hopefully now I've supplied every single previous bill they will create a closing statement from their own last PDF GNE bill I gave back to them.  It all sounds like a complete mistake, and lack of access to the original account and readings.
