This scenario is playing out EVERY time Ofgem appoints a SLR. We have seen it with all 53 companies before this latest debacle and despite huge customer dissatisfaction and distress NOTHING ever changes to alter this woefully inept process. In my view the problem lies very firmly at Ofem’s door who refuse to look at this process and put the much needed timescales and checks/balances into making it all work smoothly. On a somewhat cynical note, just look at who the Admistrators of each of this failed companies are - huge Accountacy firms, and ask why there is no incentives on these to speed up this process. Martin and his team really need to look at this, as it will continue to other customers until someone with teeth takes it on. As an ordinary ex YE Customer I tried to take Ofgem on but was blocked at every twist and turn. Eventually it wears you out, so Martin what about it?

Please, all readers, complain to Ofgem about their false statement that GNE ceased trading end Jan, and Ofgem's utter failure to explain the process.
I don't know whether the administrators are at fault. If GNE has contracts for wholesale supply at good prices into 2021, it is in the interest of GNE's creditors to the administrators to continue to sell that as long as possible. It is also in their interest to suggest a maximum plausible guess at the final meter reading. Odd that EdF (UK)'s shareholder, the state-owned Electricité de France, hasn't told the CEO to get a grip.

If it sorts itself out when I get the Final bill from GNE then fine, but I won`t hold my breath.
It will (well, it should, based on the final bills posted in this thread). You'll be billed at GNE rates up to your transfer date (and your date of 4th May sounds about right) then at EDF rates after that. EDF will be the ones generating your bill so there's essentially no risk that you'll be asked to pay twice for the same units.
Not quite (I think). GNE customers are on 'Welcome GNE' tariffs set by EdF since 31 January.
This is correct as I received my final bill this week.
Its broken down in to two sections on a per fuel basis.
Until January 31 you are billed on your GNE tariff. From Feb 1, when EDF took over, you are billed on your EDF tariff.
If you did not supply a reading on January 31 then this is estimated. If you want to give a more accurate one then you can call EDF up and they will adjust it for you.
Any balance, credit or debit, showing on the final bill then transfers over to your EDF account.

    Hi QrizB,
If what you state happens then all is fine, but it would mean one of two things would need to happen, as GNE have already billed me for approx 150 Kw/h of Electricity over and above the initial readings they supposedly supplied to EDF. Then EDF either need to adjust and increase their initial reading to account for this or GNE credits me back with the cost of the already paid for Kw/h. If not, that is what I meant by paying both companies for the same electricity. Also I did take my readings on 29th Jan when GNE ceased trading and offered them to EDF but they did not want them, EDF just wanted my readings on the day I telephoned them. If final bills are to be received by end of July ? it will be a waiting game to see what happens, and still awaiting the gas readings too !

I would be very surprised if you ever hear from GNE again. GNE will pass your account details, including meter readings and any credit/debit balance, to EDF who will then produce a bill that covers your GNE and EDF consumption and payments up to the date of the bill. I can't see any potential in this for EDF to bill you twice for the same units.

Phone EDF and give the the adjusted final read. They will then amend it and your issue will be resolved.

My transfer also reached "level 4 all complete" a few days ago and I gave my meter readings too. Hopefully a final GNE statement will now be forthcoming. No direct debit taken yet though.

My account was "all complete" 23rd April but I am still awaiting the final GNE statement.

Dream on SOP. I reached level 4 on 27 April, ddm with EDF going through OK. Spoke with GNE yesterday re final billing. Their response...the final billings normally take 4/6 weeks but there are delays and no one can say just how long!
