Today (5th) finally received my GNE final bill.
    Email or post?
Sorry, don't look in every day.   It was by email.  Still nothing showing on my EDF account.

MSE News has just published a news story on the latest on GNE/EDF re. customers still waiting to be transferred:
Thanks Helen. I'm not sure what it means that 10,800 people are still waiting for an update on the status of their account. Perhaps it means that EDF haven't contacted these people at all? I think the problem is bigger than that because it seems that many more people have had some contact from EDF but their transfer is still not completed. It would be interesting to know just how many of the 360,000 ex GNE customers have been fully transferred to EDF (including final bills from GNE and refunds if appropriate).

It's hard to know whether GNE or EDF are to blame, but I just want the interminable wait to be over!
    Hi SonOfPearl,
Apologies - that sentence wasn't very clear so we've updated it. What we meant was, of the 360,000 GNE customers - 10,800 are still waiting to be transferred to EDF. But yes, your point is a valid one given others on top are also still waiting for final bills and and credits - we'll put that to EDF.
    Best wishes,
    Helen

MSE Helen - it is all rather vague isn't it. End of May is now end of July.

From the various posts it would appear only a handful are fully and properly set up and many , like myself seem stuck part way through. I've paid my first DD, on the correct tariff but waiting for meter read request.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

I received my EDF customer account number a few weeks back,  I was not asked to provide any meter readings, but an Electricity reading shown on the account reads " meter read 4th May"  The only problem was this reading was lower/ less than my last bill from GNE dated 4th Feb.  I attempted a live chat with EDF( a total waste of time with what appeared to be  an overseas call centre, as they were not interested ) Next day I telephoned EDF, enquired where the meter reading came from, ie was it estimated etc, I was informed that the reading was supplied by GNE as initial reading for EDF and final reading for GNE. I informed EDF of the error and was advised GNE were responsible as I had not become an EDF customer until the 4th May, not as I had thought since 31st Jan or start of Feb as per all the previous messages. EDF stated unless the readings are out  with certain parameters, there is nothing I can do, so they are saying I will have to pay for the same electricity units twice. I told EDF I took my readings when GNE went under, which I could supply to them now, he then asked for my CURRENT readings during the conversation, which I provided. My gas readings from GNE were not available to him at that time. The gas reading is still not showing online, and the EDF account is still not set up fully,  and still no final bill from GNE, all D/Debits still taken. Just a heads up for people to look out for and hopefully your transfer/ meter reads are better than my experience so far.

That's totally incorrect - but unfortunately front line customer services staff DON'T understand the procedures for an Agreed Readings Dispute !
I've had issues on three occasions with overlapping leccy readings and it's taken a lot of effort to sort them ( or get a satisfactory outcome !!)

I gave EDF meter readings on 27 April, this being the date EDF took over my supply.
Has these readings generated a final billing from GNE? No!! Has these readings generated ANY RESPONSE from GNE? No!!
Makes you wonder if GNE administrators and EDF are cooperating/communicating or are GNE winding up fees simply being 'jacked up' by delaying completed transfers!

    Hi brewerdave,
Thanks for your comment, the point that obviously gets me, was the thought of having to pay for the same electricity again with EDF that I have already paid GNE for, because the initial reading GNE has supposedly supplied to EDF  is lesser than what GNE had already billed me, up to 4th Feb. If it sorts itself out when I get the Final bill from GNE then fine, but I won`t hold my breath. I will now wait and see what happens with the gas meter reads. Fingers crossed.

It will (well, it should, based on the final bills posted in this thread). You'll be billed at GNE rates up to your transfer date (and your date of 4th May sounds about right) then at EDF rates after that. EDF will be the ones generating your bill so there's essentially no risk that you'll be asked to pay twice for the same units.

Not quite (I think). GNE customers are on 'Welcome GNE' tariffs set by EdF since 31 January. Contrary to what Ofgem negligently state, GNE has continued trading, 'in adminstration'. The administrators should propose final meter reading(s), and EdF should agree or dispute them, in the light of customer readings they have (usually?) asked for. However, EdF has bungled briefing front-line staff to get a grip on the switch-date meter reading.
EdF puts on customers' on-line account the closing statement prepared by the GNE administrators. The closing debit or credit balance is carried over into future EdF billing.
It is a waste of time, and bad for your blood pressure, to try to explain this the front-line EdF staff. Check out the complaints procedure on the EdF website, and email the CEO's office.
