  • EDF's price promise is worthless unless things change;
Old GNE Tariff: 12.978 pence per kWh*     Standing charge 18.638 pence per day
The new EDF tariff: 13.9 pence per kWh & 22.58pence per day.
I know the difference is marginal, but it's the principle of making a claim that doesn't stand up.
    So on a consumption of 4,500 kWh p.a. GNE = £716.93 and EDF= £777.42
    Both include VAT.

If you read their webpage, there is an addendum to that promise (the small '3' at the end of it).
Which to me, reads that they can charge you whatever they like, and come 31 sept, if you've paid more than you would have on your GNE tariff, they will simply credit your account with that amount. So in effect, you'd be lending them money :)

It sounds like a loyalty condition. Ties you in to EDF until at least 30 September - or 31 September by your calendar ;) - plus the amount of time they'll take to actually issue the refund while we continue to overpay. They might also argue that you're not paying more in real terms (i.e. adjusted for inflation).

Ofgem has been directing people with questions on the Warm Home Discount to contact the Warm Home Discount helpline. However, that WHD helpline is exclusively for people on pension credit. Ofgem's second-line advice was to contact the Department for Work and Pensions to chase up on the progress of one's WHD application. Again, inappropriate advice, as the DWP says that the WHD is being managed by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. We're being led round the houses!
  • Before transfer i had a credit balance of £237.79
Been looking around on edf and can't seem to see where this is now.
Has it just been credited to my account already or am I looking in the wrong place?

Has your Edf account actually been set up ?  I and many others on this forum are still waiting for it to happen - apparently by today.

Your GNE account is still live and you can still give them meter readings.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
  • I'm still waiting to hear anything other than there email to say they are taking over my account. I presume they are keeping people hanging on so they can't jump ship and get a better deal before the price hike due tomorrow. I wonder if we'll suddenly hear from them after that.
  • I have had an email via MSE giving me my new EDF rate, however nothing directly from EDF to confirm this, my GNE DD is still active & I am paying the same amount & am in Credit, also i am sending monthly readings to GNE website, these are all showing on the GNE website, as are my payments. Theres really nothing we can do I reckon just sit tight & see what happens. Hopefully all those in "Large" credit situations will be treated properly.

I had a request on my account from EDF to submit my meter readings, there was a box at the bottom which I assumed was to put my readings into, however, it only took 4 or 5 numbers at the most and no letters. I looked further to add my readings at the 'submit a reading' section, only thing I could submit was the Electricity, nowhere could I add a Gas reading. I then noticed a piece stating my Direct Debit was set up for my Electric useage, nothing about Gas and the Debit will start on 1st May. I then tried their chat line which wasn't available, so I rang and managed to get through after a wait, I explained what I was concerned about, the lass said at this moment they are concentrating on the Electricity side and hope to have the Gas sorted shortly. I spoke about the Gas charges which although I'm not getting are higher than when I was with Green Network, again she couldn't say anything except wait until the Gas side was sorted.

I’ve been inputting both gas and electricity readings into the GNE app each month.
Not received any updates from EDF recently.

There's a new MSE news story about delays to transfers from GNE to EDF in case anyone has missed it.
