    I've not been told -  I'm going on the statement that I'll not be worse of. To me that means Welcome 5

    Perhaps I'll know by the 31st.

    I can certainly see no point in cancelling the DD - at least I'll have something in the kitty.

    What on earth's going on? I've just logged in to my GNE account and found that direct debits are still being taken each month and that I'm now nearly £400 in credit. Is that money I'll ever see back, given that the administrators will have frozen their assets?

    A large credit build up is usual with those systems which only actually bill every three months (or six) and can be quite misleading at first glance. The credit you see is the balance from the last bill plus DD's (perhaps three) received since --  the cost of the units is NOT shown but you can calculate those yourself quite easily using the readings you have been submitting.

    Sure, the genesis of the credit build-up is clear, but will it all be transferred over to EDF or will we lose the money because it's being piled into a company that is in liquidation?

  • All going slow here too. Got an email start of Feb to say they were switching me, a follow up the start of this month to say it's all going to plan, but nothing since. Would love to know what they are switching me to as soon as possible, could be potential to save some money and get a switching bonus if I knew there was a better deal elsewhere. Though I guess that might be why they are taking their time, make sure they get maximum benefit from this influx of customers, at least 2/3 months payments.

    EDF's price promise is worthless unless things change;
    Old GNE Tariff: 12.978 pence per kWh*     Standing charge 18.638 pence per day
    The new EDF tariff: 13.9 pence per kWh & 22.58pence per day.
    I know the difference is marginal, but it's the principle of making a claim that doesn't stand up.
    So on a consumption of 4,500 kWh p.a. GNE = £716.93 and EDF= £777.42
    Both include VAT.

    To avoid the aggravation of a large credit balance to be transferred to EDF I cancelled my GNE ddm. OK, I'm building up an EDF bill but that's fine. Up to press what've I heard from EDF...nothing!! Not too encouraging.

    I had a good sized credit balance with GNE, so I cancelled my DD. By now, I've probably used up the credit balance! I've still not heard anything from EDF. Not even a welcome email. I'm not going to stress about it though, it will come out in the wash eventually.
