I’m in a different predicament to everyone else here.

In August 2020 I found out by an email from GNR that I was leaving them; thanks and we will send you a final bill.    After the initial call to find out why I had received this email, I was told my supply was with another supplier but they wasn’t sure which one.  After another phone call I was told SSE is the new supplier but you don’t actually have a supply anymore at your address - it was moved to Colchester Borough Council.     I then discovered an Erroneous Transfer had occurred and after many phone calls I would be receiving a £30 cheque from SSE as part of this process.

Since September 2020 I’ve had no DD’s taken from my bank account as GNR had stopped them as they thought I was leaving - but as I said above I didn’t request this.

I was only ‘reconnected’ on 1/10/2020.
I also discovered in January 2021 that my gas supply was disconnected on their system and was still on the account of Colchester Borough Council.

So after this in January 2021 I received a final bill from GNR for nearly £400 for obviously the months where I’ve had no DD’s taken.

Then the news came of GNR ceasing trading.

I have waited like others after being transferred to EDF via the regulators, and have since spoken to EDF on the phone, only for them to say we we are waiting on the accounts to be transferred to us from all GNR customers and that GNR are basically uncontactable.
  • Well --On we go -- another DD taken by GNE, I have had email contact from EDF saying I am being transferred to them , "Please wait for welcome pack" !! I don't suppose anything to stress about, I was a little in Credit, but I am still connected so will wait it out.

I cancelled my GNE ddm thinking it might prompt EDF to get something sorted. Wrong! Still not heard from EDF nor have I paid for any energy since January.

Same here, moved from EON through Money Saving Expert just as firm collapsed, so cancelled my DD thinking it would stop them taking anything. Have checked don’t have any EON balance but like you haven’t paid anything since January!

I also cancelled the DD.  I have now received the "welcome e-mail" from EDF which states which tariff I am on but I cannot link through to find anything from EDF to confirm the rates.  Hopefully the wheels are now turning and we will soon be on the other side and able to go out to get a market-competitive rate.  Hopefully before the current round of price rises kick in, though no doubt EDF benefit by being slow enough that current rates cease to be available...

My bill that was due the 12th was never generated, so I'm still in credit by some considerable amount.  Last bill was back in January so...

I had my welcome letter and tariff details: Welcome GNE Variable 5 Tariff. However the tariff is higher than the old GNE one (yes both include VAT), despite the EDF promise.
    Old Tariff:GNE Spring Sunrise V4
    Product Type: Fixed Rate
    Payment Method: Direct Debit
    Unit Rate: 12.978p/kWh
    Standing Charge 18.638p/day
    New tariff: 13.9ppkWh and 22.58ppd

This sounds like a common theme in the posts I have read so far.   EDF said they would be in contact with everyone by the end of March, but what do we do if EDF don't respond by then?   Can we go to the regulator?

whats still confusing to me is the date EDF will actually start billing from
for me when previous suppliers have gone bust the transfer has been done just like a normal change of supplier with no specific fixed transfer date but some of the info I have read online seems to suggest EDF are already effecively billing everybody from the start of february despite us still having active GNE accounts where we can enter reads, pay direct debits & (potentially) get bills produced (& no EDF account created yet)

If EDF are billing us from start of February then my concern would be if a bill is produced on the GNE account in the meantime then there could end up being a double charge
