Tuesday- NSD 13. Dinner is a random selection of bits from the fridge, I have "proper" food in the freezer but I forgot to take any of it out before going to work- maybe tomorrow.
Grateful today for making new (online) contacts which may prove helpful going forward, for a "plan" to end lockdown (even if its vague and far-away) it does include a date for full time school and mushrooms.6 -
Grateful for going through 2 file boxes of paperwork and so far getting rid of 1 and a 1/2 bags full (+ one broken suspension file). Weird stuff mum has kept (and the weirdest bits I can't throw away just yet - did ditch some of the P60s, they went back to 2005). Think I will have to get more interested in family history, just to make it mean something (encounters with mum's mum's family and mum's dad's family in recent weeks were very confusing - not sure what is bad information and what is people not having a clue what they are doing). I know there is a tangle of insurance policies to be dealt with at a later date - tried to sort some of it out after my father died but every time I wrote to the company they sent me to a different address and I gave up in the end - I was only trying to update the details they had.
Grateful for the ibuprofen spray which eased my shoulder pain last night and helped me sleep and for tiny daffodils making an appearance in the tubs by the path. apple mum's yard is 4 fence panels across the bottom and 5 up the side so roughly 24' x 30' but the outside fence doglegs (there was originally a curved driveway which has been enclosed at some point) and there is an extra piece running alongside the house at least 6' wide (possibly 9' - 10' at it's widest - the four panels facing the door are roughly like a bay window, 2 flat panels and the ones at each side slanted). Most of it is flagged and a lot of last year's growing was done in large tubs and some containers I brought from home but I want to organise proper raised beds this year. It takes me so long to get down to the floor, longer still to get back up and it starts to hurt after about 5 minutes. I can get much more done if the beds/ containers are at a convenient height for working.
I have harvested the 4 smallest brussels sprouts plants today. I have an ice cream box filled with small sprouts and another with the little cabbagey tops. There are at least 4 plants which probably have as much on each as I have harvested today but I wanted to add the stalks to the green bin before it went out and it gives me a bit more room to plant a few more onions. The washing that went outside yesterday is on hangers to finish off (sheet is on mum's radiator) and I've made gammon for tea (2 gammon steaks for the freezer). I'm trying for a NSWeek - next food shop will be for March. Will probably run out of bread at some point but there are wraps in the freezer and lots of little packets of goodies available now the freezers have been run down a little. Will need my diary to check what NSD I'm on.
f0xh0les the cartoons are by chibird. The original ones are a little bird and then there is bipolar bear and positivity penguin but I couldn't remember their names when I was looking earlier.

Sorry the weather hasn't lasted for some of you turtles, I was super lucky today and had sunshine all day. Took the opportunity to polish my car as it was clean, now it's super shiny (it's the little things atm lol).
Did a small top up shop, treated myself to a bottle of wine as it's my week off. Got a few jobs done around the house and then went to see the pony and give him some fuss before coming home to watch a film.
Grateful for sunshine, a nice day and bunny being none the worse for her ordeal yesterday.
@Buffythedebtslayer hope your furries are OK.6 -
Really tired today and I have no idea why, probably heading for bed in a few minutes. I've been in school yesterday and today for meetings, I was quite positive this morning but year 8 soon sorted that. Oh well 8 more days of teams and then back to completely non normal normality.Mortgage Free 23 December 2020

Hi all
Managed another NSD so up to #13 now. Had a quiet day at work, but started to tackle a work frog. Finished early so could walk to pick up cards for the 'special day that shall not be named' that occurs in December - they are lovely snowy photos of the local town that had severe flooding last month and a proportion of the cost goes to help the businesses that have been impacted. i walked for over 1.5 hours so my legs are aching now! Did some studying this eve.
Gratitudes - getting bedding dry on the line and lovely fresh bedsheets to look forward to imminently; nice chat with DD2; one of my cats sitting cuddled up next to me

Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes it's the quiet voice at the end of the day saying "I will try again tomorrow"

Hello turtles
Sorry I’ve been absent and thank you for the well wishes.
I went to the interview this morning which was face to face and completed 2.5 hours of tests which was pretty intense. Just now need to wait and hear if I’ve got to the next stage. It was a surreal experience catching the metro during rush hour for the first time in a year! The people I met all seemed lovely and it seems like a nice place to work, with a permanent contract which is pretty much unheard of round these parts. Here's hoping.
No NSD today so I am on NSD 7 still. Also I have to confess I bought a new fruit phone!! Does that put me on the naughty step??? It is great and has made my life easier so I don’t regret the purchase.
Grateful for kind people, for sunshine and for hazelnut chocolate spread with butter on toast

Fingers crossed, Shrewbie. xx
I've also been a bit naughty today. Ordered plants, seeds and compost. No garden centres open here and it really needs sorting out now. I'm going for a blue, white purple theme. So heathers, lavender and some some yellow sunflowers to brighten it up. Also used a whole lot of M & S vouchers which we've had for years to buy some wine for Himself. Delivered because we can't get to the shop and I'm afraid they might expire soon. We've also got some restaurant vouchers which expire this summer. Not sure what will happen with that if they are not extended. I think there will be a limited opening but as I'm not happy with public transport I'll give them to the lad next door and he and his girlfriend or sister can they use them if need be.
Got a curry cooking in the slow cooker using a sauce that has been in the cupboard so long that I'm embarrassed to admit how how it's been there. But it smells very nice (apparently).
Got a letter from DWP saying my pension is going up. Not by much but very welcome never the less.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.8 -
Good luck Shrewbie!NSD 16 in the bag. The school sent an email to say they are reviewing the govt opening guidelines and will be in touch when they have decided when they want the kids. So they might be in on 8th, or they might not, it is wait and see time again.Apart from that, everything is going swimmingly.Oops, primary school just sent a text to say DS4 is in from 8th. Well that is a little bit of certainty, right there.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Have had DS3 and DS2 try on school trousers and school shoes - thankfully ok (well, trousers needed the hems dropping for both, but that's fine - they haven't outgrown them on the waists
Both schools sent a virtually identical holding email (maybe 3 words different) yesterday - I think the local / county heads have collaborated - these 2 schools have literally nothing to do with one another. DS3's have since emailed out again this afternoon - in order for children to start on the 8th and make things easier they will be inviting them in on set dates/ times the week beforehand for an initial test and then tests will be sent home to do twice weekly at home. (LFT tests, so results in approx 30 mins) Participation is voluntary - I hope as many as possible take it up! DS2's has not written out again to either parents or staff (I work there occasionally) as yet.
Took a walk this afternoon with DD to collect some food items from an 0li0-er - collected 4 x 2pts milk (I asked for 2 - they had 15 to give away... Needless to say some has gone in the freezer!), some croissants, cheese twists (didn't ask for these - will see if DS1 will eat them), an iced doughnut, some onions and a pack of falafelsNice walk - bit breezy, but relatively mild and at least it was dry! (and the ground is a lot drier than it was the other day)
Have some dough proving to make flatbreads to go with dinner tonight - not tried this recipe before - fingers crossed it turns out ok
DS2 has had an inset day today - flippin' annoying that the school didn't tag it on to half term! (makes no difference to me personally, but am sure some parents will have had to juggle things for today/ would need to juggle things in more 'normal' times) DH has also gone to his 'real' office workplace! I appear to have done.... not a lot.... ooops! Maybe I could ahve a quick whizz around now before he gets back!!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £206
