Yes the £189 tv has freeview, don’t think it’s freeview hd though but it’s a Samsung smart tv so if in the future you did want to watch now tv, Netflix, Amazon prime etc that’s already inbuilt for you. As to your broadband if you are still in your cancellation period with Virgin I would ring 0345 454 1098 which is their external retentions number, explain that you have cancelled and thinking of moving to plusnet is there anything they can do to keep you on their 100mb broadband, they would likely match plusnet and then saves you hassle of switching. Beware though that is not a free number on a virgin media phone, it may be on some mobile phones, so check, but is normally quicker to get thru to than 150. And it’s the department that have better deals,Just_Passing_Bi said:PZ19, I really appreciate your time and help.I have a BT line into my flat, although at the moment, my line is with VMThe £139.00 TV mentions freeview, I take it the £189.00 TV freeview is included, as it's not mentioned on the advert
this tv is even cheaper and is a smart tv and has freeview hd channels so bbc, itv, ch4 etc will be very clear picture. There are cheaper non smart tv around too. If it was me and I could afford it I would choose the Samsung personally. But as I keep saying please try and see if your current tv can be tuned in first.

The current TV is a lot older than I had imagined.
Here's a link to a review dated 2005 where it confirms that the set is analogue only.

IMHO don't get hung up on any new TV having "smart" features ... you can add these using a Firestick or similar, and doing it that way is generally better as "smart" features built in to TVs have a habit of going obsolete - using an external device lets you more-easily keep things up to date without having to change your TV.

Thanks for all the helpful replies,My current TV remote doesn't have TV/DVD, it has "M" I asssume is menu, and TV, I've pressed M, and nothing happens, it's still snowy.Based on PZ19, I'm very tempted to purchase the Samsung TV, if I get as long out of it as my current 1, I'll be happyI'm hopeless with technology, in addition, I suffer with MH issues, what may appear simple, I struggle with, may I ask, please be patient, thank you0

If you can afford that, that is a good choice. I have Samsung tv’s and never let me down. My last one lasted 11 years and was still going strong but I changed it as wanted bigger screen. Their menu is very straightforward, and on my tv they have lot of extra channels like CNN etc. That code only applies to the end of Monday and you need to have the tv delivered to your home. It sounds from Neil above that your current Tv isn’t built to receive freeview signals which may explain your snowy picture. I am not sure that the Samsung has freeview hd however so you won’t be able to watch hd channels. There are other smart tv options with freeview hd like thisJust_Passing_Bi said:Thanks for all the helpful replies,My current TV remote doesn't have TV/DVD, it has "M" I asssume is menu, and TV, I've pressed M, and nothing happens, it's still snowy.Based on PZ19, I'm very tempted to purchase the Samsung TV, if I get as long out of it as my current 1, I'll be happy
Are you still in your cancellation period with Virgin? If you are it’s definitely worth calling them to see if they can make you a better offer to stay with their broadband. It will save you the hassle of switching suppliers and setting that up. As Jenni said you could always buy a cheaper TV which doesn’t have the smart apps and add a firestick later, they cost £35.1 -
PZ19, I'll buy the TV, I'm wondering whether to get a ROKU or Amazon firestickI called VM retentions again, was told basically, to stop calling (this was my 3rd call) the package offered 100mg BB only at £29pm is all that's on offerI'm hopeless with technology, in addition, I suffer with MH issues, what may appear simple, I struggle with, may I ask, please be patient, thank you0

Is it worth the hassle of switching for £4pm? They do offer it far cheaper than that to others so that is a shame. Has no one called you back after cancellation with a cheaper price? When do you get cut off from Virgin?Just_Passing_Bi said:PZ19, I'll buy the TV, I'm wondering whether to get a ROKU or Amazon firestickI called VM retentions again, was told basically, to stop calling (this was my 3rd call) the package offered 100mg BB only at £29pm is all that's on offerIf you buy a smart tv, ie the Samsung or JVC above you DO NOT need any other device like a Roku or firestick. The Tv comes with the apps that are on those sticks already installed.1 -
Ah, OK, so I don't need a Roku or Amazon firestick, great, I posted a comment on BB thread, basiclly, VM only offered BB, no line / phone, @£29pm, Plusnet, I get 60mg (enough for my use) evening / weekend calls, caller ID, witheld numbers blocked @ £34pm, I'm thinking this is a better deal
